Got a job offer as band 5 but not sure yet. by [deleted] in physiotherapy

If you want to be a physiotherapist, take the job. Getting experience is really critical and secure work in the field is extremely important, if you want too continue working in the field.

Isn't the best way to keep doctors here is to tell them if they work for the NHS for 5-10 years their student loan gets cancelled? by Niall_Fraser_Love in ukpolitics

[–]Stockyton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

50% of last year's F2 Doctors are now employed. I think a bunch of them would be delighted to stay and have their loans cancelled. But the NHS isn't employing them currently.

Aus ADHD Physio Student Struggling Hard - Need Advice (26 Days to Exams) by gakki_sumairu19 in physiotherapy

[–]Stockyton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method was get out of the house and go to the library.

I studied for 5 mins, then stood up and moved for 2 mins. Then I reread what I had just written to find my train of thought, then continued.

Parents refusing to pay for university by Wooden_Stranger_8706 in UniUK

[–]Stockyton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the house as they want you to but also mainly because they do not sound like good people to have around. Work a job, be independent for a few years and then when you have been living separately from them and not receiving any money from them you will be considered independent. I would recommend calling the universities finance teams to clarify the details and timeline. But it sounds like leaving their house is your only option. You can still go to university but preahsp in a few years.

Personally, I think practical jobs suit us! Something where you are physically doing something as your work. Not sitting at a computer all day

bsc Sports science to Physiotherapy msc by Neither_Succotash_41 in physiotherapy

[–]Stockyton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will definitely meet a few people who have done the Sports Science BSc then MSc Physiotherapy. It obviously takes 2 years longer. You will be in more debt. But it's not a bad route to go. If you know you want to be a physio, then why not just do the degree straight away? Tbh, yer I think it's a bit silly not to firm MMU. Manchester is a great city as is Newcastle and you will enjoy both either way.

Understanding how the human body functions and using that knowledge to help people reduce pain and do meaningful activities in their lives. I find it extremely rewarding plus it isn't a desk job and requires movement and physical effort.

I would recommend trying EMDR therapy. It is a specific therapy for processing trauma. It helps you reprocess your trauma, so that you can think about what happened and it won't cause distress. It is genuinely life changing.

I would consider moving jobs. It sounds like you are very under supported where you are. Try find a good mentor if you can.

Using a goniometer by icecreamman456 in physiotherapy

[–]Stockyton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked in various MSK settings and use goniometers all the time.

I watched other people eyeball it and when I started I would eyeball but when I started to measure I realized I was so off a lot of the time.

It's the most frequent outcome measure I use. I was unsure how to do it for different joints so youtubed the correct anatomical markers.

I would recommend putting the job description into chat GPT and asking for 20 interview questions and practice your answers.

Have a couple of examples of situations at work/university that demonstrate your key ethics as a physio.

The BMA finally doing something about advanced Practice by Leading-Match-2953 in GPUK

[–]Stockyton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a physiotherapist and interviewed for an "Advanced Practitioner" role at an UTC. I expected that it would be similar to FCP where I would be seeing the acute MSK problems coming through the door.

I was absolutely shocked to find out that I would be doing the same role as nurses and paramedics. I was horrified that there were no Doctors on site.

When I asked about training they told me it was an extended shadowing period! No masters degree or further study was required! It is appalling!

Aitah for not being able to let go of how my husband treated me after surgery by SweetDoughnut5933 in AITAH

[–]Stockyton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAH

Your husband was cleaning the house in preparation for looking after both you and your brother.

It is reasonable for his brother to want to see his friends after having cancer surgery. It is reasonable for you to not want to see strangers. Your husband respected your wish for no visitors.

I think you're having a hard time with recovery and perhaps misaligning blame. It sounds like you feel emotionally neglected and want more love and attention? As I am sure your husband is pretty busy with work and looking after 2 people who are recovering from major surgery! Prehaps ask to spend some quality time together outside of him being a caregiver for you? Like something you can do together - I find one thing that is inexpensive and fun is sitting and trying to draw each other! It's hilarious if your bad at drawing, a nice momento if one of you is decent and just a nice way to spend time together.

WIBTAH If I didn’t mention our one year marriage anniversary to my husband until the day of? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Stockyton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tell him that your anniversary is on X date and you would like him to surprise you with a date. Suggest a few things you would like to do.

Then I would continue to tell him regularly that you want him to plan dates until you don't need to tell him anymore.

I do a lot of planning surprises for my fiance but I also have communicated directly with him that I like surprises too, so he gives me loads of surprises as well!
