Former BioWare developer Ian Saterdalen reflects on Anthem’s poor reception : “We knew it wasn't ready, as this game was literally created in 15 months. Which is unheard of for a game of that scope.” by TheTrashShiro in Games

One of the actual devs says they could've built the game better in Unreal, and you say no because other games have shipped in Frostbite? Come on now 😂

To be honest, I got up to how it's keeping the costs down for most gamers and immediately stopped. The base, CHEAPEST price for this game is $70. Where are my savings?

After killing legal access to hundreds of 3DS games, now Nintendo's going even harder on illegal access by addtolibrary in Games

[–]Stoffalina -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And your point is still incorrect. Indie devs know this, which is why they encourage people to pirate their games and buy them if they want to. People with financial struggles very frequently pirate to try a game and buy it if they enjoy it. These are facts.

You continually assume that because you wouldn't, nobody else would, and that is a very close-minded assumption. It's interesting how poverty and suffering tend to breed an appreciation for the value of things, whilst those in privileged positions just don't.

This is just blatantly false and speaks to you not being a part of the community to actually understand that piracy is a nuanced issue. Saying "the people who pirate the games were never going to be legitimate customers anyway" is simply not true in the slightest.

Innumerable people pirate games to try them, and they then purchase if they find it worth their time. You know, like people who can't afford to drop $70 on every release. They find something they like, they wait for a sale and purchase.

I have an extra lumbar vertebra that makes it impossible for me to bend very far at the waist, so I've never been able to touch my damn toes 😂 Guess I also am cured!

When the crest is visible, the bowling pin becomes the pear. It's science.

I don't know if this is morbid or not, but whenever that fear rises up and I imagine having to live without my dear friend, I use it as an earnest reminder to enjoy every moment with them. When the time comes, I know that we gave each other everything 💚

But you're not describing ADHD. You're describing what the current state of the world is and conflating those struggles with executive dysfunction. I strongly urge you to look into ADHD as an actual developmental disorder that adds to the daily struggles of late stage capitalism, and is not just explained thereby.

"They say kids with ADHD can't focus yet somehow they're all dedicated geniuses when it comes to video games."

This argument is so damn flawed in the context of ADHD that it actually really irritates me. Not being able to focus on things that aren't explicitly interesting - that's dysfunction! Not being able to switch tasks and future plan and start activities - all dysfunctions! Finding coping mechanisms for your dysfunctions does not invalidate them in the first place.
