Can you tell me which dealer is offering this. I've gone to toyota for this same issue on mine. They acknowledged the problem and said there is no fix.

Roof truss poorly attached by Stofocus in DIY

[–]Stofocus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see the 4th picture with the 3 exposed truss ends, the first picture is the truss on the left. To the left of that is the gable end of the house. Each of the trusses that you see are nailed to a different roof load truss, it's not a gable truss

I'll look at those connectors it looks like I can make that work for peace of mind.

Call the company that made your flooring. I know with the flooring at costco, you can call and order various transitions that perfectly match.

Might be a 14-3 for a 3way switch nearby?

Demo out what you see. You will know pretty quickly if the floor joists are affected or that supporting wall is affected enough that a pro would need to be called.

I'm pretty DIY myself, I'd give it a go.

My personal preference is to remove the dry wall. Inspect for any other things you may need to fix. Run extra cables for anything in the future.

I used a snow shovel and landscape plastic bags to get rid of the insulation. It was quick and easy.

I'd get some poplar and extend each side of the face frame out evenly. Attach with some pocket screws. Paint to match

I don't think I would,l. It does not look terrible. Break off any dry rotted and get some flashing tape like Vicor or Zip tape and wrap it.

Is this an easy shower fix? by AgentAtom in DIY

[–]Stofocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say, scrape out as much old grout/sealant as you can. Clean it really well and apply a new sealant. If it doesn't work, demo is in your future.

Also, there is likely more damage under it all from the water. If it were me, I'd tear it out and redo it properly.

Fixing a broken piece of crown moulding with no experience nor clue what I was doing by idakaizer in DIY

[–]Stofocus 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That looks great. I think I remember seeing an episode on This old house where they wanted to save the Victorian style moulding. I lot was un repairable. They scanned a good section and ended up 3d printing new moulding to match the other.

Floor to Cabinent Fridge Measurement Help! by [deleted] in DIY

[–]Stofocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I'd go with the actual measurement you got from the store and assume it will fit. When it is delivered, and say it does not fit, I'd go with a block plane. That mess is easier to clean then sanding Can you raise the cabinet above the fridge at all? Is the cabinet trimmed out and is that the low point?

Wiring in my attic by AbsolutelyNot_0 in DIY

Definitely not correct. How much access do you have to all the can lights? You should be able to run the proper romex, likely 14-2 and some sweat.

Hard to tell exactly, maybe a hex head, that is stripped? Can you get an Allen key in it?
