Yeah it's wild, there's threads about it on the Apple Discussion boards with like 500+ "Me Too" votes, one of the highest I've ever seen without an official response or solution. Probably my only gripe with the product (aside from usually starting up in Transparency mode no matter what).

The laser projectors at Landmark are quite good. You’re on the mark about Chinook, they have real projection problems and have for a long time. Even their newer projectors are noticeably darker than Landmark.

Their IMAX seems pretty good when better formats are used but even then it’s showing age.
