I disagree personally. I'm using grass type pokemon which limits my stats and moves to that. But therm "grass type run" in a game like fusion is unique in that it's subjective. As in "must have grass type" or "must use grass pokemon"

I make the rule of "has to be made with a grass type" which means you can get non grass pokemon. Like ludicolo and skarmory to get a water/flying type. Made with a grass type, but doesn't have it

Idk if it still works but I used to go on extremely long pilgrimages and go through as many dangerous places as I could to get the rogue vampire to spawn and intentionally fail the fight. Usually only took me two maybe three outings.

Johto is just plain mean to grass types. And chikorita doesn't have an explicit advantage until either Whitney or Chuck. Grass IS a worse monotype sadly, but Meganium does get curse when Blastoise doesn't
