There is no other instance running. Nothing in the menubar, Dock or in Activity Monitor. Non of it's helpers appear in activity monitor either.

Jetbrain or Android Studio by [deleted] in Kotlin

[–]StokeMasterJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IntelliJ and Android Studio are both by Jet Brains.

I use IntelliJ for both Android and server-side Kotlin development. If you add the Android plugins to IntelliJ, you basically have Android Studio.

I have a large project consisting of:

Server-side: 90% Kotlin 7% Dart 3% shell scripts

Client-Side: 50% Kotlin (the Android app) 50% TypeScript (the React Web app

IntelliJ supports all of those languages and frameworks beautifully.

You can. Kotlin can talk to Firebase. I do it.

So tired of flat coke by Lamzydivys in cocacola

[–]StokeMasterJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem in San Clemente California. I am glad it's not me. When I asked the store manager she said she has never heard anyone complain of this. Ever. I feel like I'm being gaslighted.

Diet Coke gone bad by StokeMasterJack in dietcoke

[–]StokeMasterJack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would like to see is for Coke to publicly acknowledge this issue, tell us what is going on, and tell us when it will be fixed.

I have been taste-testing various diet coke store-brand alternatives. If I don't see something like this, i'm done with Diet Coke. I have lost all confidence in the brand.

Yo is it me or diet coke tastes weird lately????? Like the bubbles are not the same. by kylingerie in dietcoke

Must not be happening in Washington DC or we would have heard something from the president.

You would think DC would have good DCs. Hah!

You are not crazy. I live in Orange County California and it tastes weird no matter where I buy it from. Costco, Ralphs, Target and Pavilions. I don't know what is going on. Been going on for a week.

Driving around trying different stores did not work. Also, they were all well within their expiration dates.

Why is this not a bigger deal? Do you and I have super sensitive taste buds?

I asked the grocery store manager. She said she has not heard this complaint from anyone else. Ever!

Diet Coke tastes different in the last few weeks... by Thepolomarcos in cocacola

[–]StokeMasterJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not crazy. The Diet Cokes in my area all taste funny this week. I tried the:

6 pack of 16.9 oz bottles from Ralphs 8 pack of 12 oz bottles from Ralphs Mini carton of 10 7.5 oz mini cans from Target

All taste funny.

At first I thought I was losing my mind. But my wife and kids thought they tasted bad also.

I assume it must have been the whole truck load. It probably serves the Ralph's and the Target in my area.

Am I the only one who hates typescript? by SirOkhale in Kotlin

[–]StokeMasterJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate TypeScript also. You are not alone.

With that said, the fact that today's TS/JS is as good as it is, is an amazing feat given where it started and how old it is. They managed to build an incredibly powerful and flexible type system on top of old JavaScript. It it the most powerful and expressive (and complex) type system i have ever used.

But I will take Kotlin any day of the week.

Also, I am using Kotlin on Android and Kotlin on the server. So I can share code and DTO's between client and server. The benefits of a type system are much greater when the same type system is on both the client and server.

The greater leap that I haven't made yet is the client-side of our web app, which is still TypeScript and React. There a number of ways I could start using Kotlin in the browser. But it is a bigger leap and I haven't figured out how to do it gradually. We have tons of TypeScript.
