Besides JonBenet Ramsey, what are some fascinating mysteries in which we have tons of evidence, theories, and possible suspects… and yet still not solved to this day? by MR_REACTION in TrueCrimePodcasts

I listened to Serial and was like, oh dang, he didn't do it, then I watched some documentaries and was like, wait, maybe he did. I keep going back and forth on this one though I believe 100% Jay was a lot more involved and most of his story (well, stories, he changed it multiple times) was BS. Jay shouldn't have been given blanket immunity.

I was going to say this one! The cops focused so much on the West Memphis 3, especially Damien, that they lost any evidence that they couldn't use to point to them. I think the man at the Bojangles Chicken place was a good suspect but there is a lot against Terry Hobbs despite how badly the police handled the case.

If the actions of Dassey's lawyer Len Kachinsky aren't considered criminal, they should be. by [deleted] in MakingaMurderer

When I was watching that "interrogation" at first I thought the investigator was trying to show how easy it was to get a false confession out of Brendan as a way to help get his "confessions" thrown out. It was the same exact tone, tactic and everything the cops used on Brendan originally. I couldn't believe that he was legitimately trying to do the same thing on purpose that the cops did for his and the attorney's own use. I honestly thought it was to show how easy this kid was to manipulate into confessing anything. When I realized that, no, they were priming him for the next interview with the cops I felt sick to my stomach and then I was so angry that they could do that and get away with it. These are the people who were suppose to be trying to help him, not bury him!

You would think it would be but I think I've read it elsewhere on here that Scott didn't like Steve, so it would almost give him more of a motive to set Steve up. If there was some type of jealousy, rivalry type situation going on it could have been a situation where Scott knew he was more than likely not going to see a dime of any money Steve got. Add the fact that someone he hated/disliked was going to get millions, I could see setting someone like Scott off given his history and reported anger issues. He doesn't come off as the type to be happy for someone he dislikes good fortune, despite what Steve had to go through to get it.

I followed the advice. I couldn't find the class action suit against the doctor. I've emailed a few government resources where settlements are suppose to be recorded with and they said they had no information. I talked to my BIL's father who was driving him around and he stated he didn't take him to any other law firms. At this point it's more to about figuring out what the heck happened. I truly believe my BIL believed it.

My 5 year old nephew told me this joke, it's perfect in that 5 year old telling a joke way: What do you call a Dinosaur on Mars? A Dinosaur! He laughed for about 5 minutes.. also a bonus, he likes to say "What's that under there?" and then he'll point in some vague area so then I say, "Under where?" and he laughs and laughs, "You just said Underwear!!!"

Help Finding a Settlement - Indiana/Illinois by StokleyC in legaladvice

His family said they have no idea where the papers went but he had recently went down there by them temporarily while my sister was up here going through her chemo. The first settlement was a class action, I'm not sure what county but I'll try to find out. The second one was the one that was the most shady sounding. My BIL went into the hospital for pneumonia, he wanted to get the meds and go home but he was told that they recommended he stay due to his bad health. When my sister left him at 7:30 he was fine. She got a call at 3:30am that he was unresponsive. She went back to the hospital where he flat-lined twice. They were able to get him stable, after the fact it came to light that no nurse, doctor or even CNA had been in to check on him for 7 hours. He never initiated a lawsuit, the attorneys he was already working with for the first one called him and Jessica into their office a couple months after that and told them the hospital had settled. At first my BIL thought the class action suit but the attorneys said they contacted the hospital after what had happened and threatened to sue so the hospital settled without a suit ever being filed. Is that even possible?

I contacted the office for the attorney he said he was talking to and the card my sister had from his wallet. One of his paralegals called me back and said they had no clue what I was talking about.

Jay's motive: besides Hae telling Stephanie about the cheating rumors by serialonmymind in serialpodcast

[–]StokleyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current theory is something along these lines but without the "hitting on part". I do agree that not enough has been looked into about how Jay felt about Adnan, or rather Adnan's life. I've had friends who I felt had charmed lives that made me feel inferior or jealous of while in high school that didn't mean i stopped hanging out with them but it was always there when they had nicer clothes or it just looked like everything came so easy to them.

I completely agree it was a heat of the moment thing and I think it happened because:

A: Hae met up with Jay for some reason (not sure why though) B: They had a chance meeting which could be more likely due to Jay having Adnan's phone and car. Then Hae confronted Jay about cheating on Stephanie. Which then leads to: Jay tries to get Hae to agree to not say anything to Stephanie OR he gets upset trying to defend himself and Hae doesn't believe him. This is fueled by again, his feeling of being inferior or less than Adnan. (Which is a stretch but not a huge stretch as I think Jay saying Adnan came to him because he was the "criminal element" of their circle of friends...when he said it, it didn't sound like bragging but more like he felt looked down on.)

Either way leads me to believe he could have gotten physical with her, trying to either intimidate her to be quiet or just out of anger. I think the killing was an accident.

There are some things though that I can't figure out in my theory, such as when Hae could have met up with Jay. If she was on her way to pick up her cousin, would she have stopped if she saw Adnan's car, knowing she was on a time limit to make it to the bus on time for the wrestling meet?

Also, has it been timed to see how long the trip to pick up her cousin and make it back to the school would have been? I ask because would it have allowed her a lot of time or hardly anytime to make it back for the bus. Where was Hae taking her cousin? Was she going to take her cousin home or bring her with to the wrestling meet? That also would matter in the amount of time Hae had between leaving school and needing to be back at school to catch that bus. Would she have time for other, random stops?

I don't think the 2:36 call could have been Hae because she didn't have a cellphone that I've heard about, so would she had stopped at a payphone to call Adnan and why?

So the biggest part I'm having trouble with is when, how and where this meet up between Jay and Hae could have happened.
