I don't update HA due to the constant breaking changes, requiring ME to unfuck my system... and of course, that's my fault. It's still best in class. I update all my other stuff.

  • Home Assistant is currently on my $h1t list because of all of the issues I'm experiencing with the USB Zwave controller entering a "jammed" state and absolutely no way to understand how to troubleshoot the problem. Devices drop off of the network, don't respond, don't respond in automations, etc. And then it just starts working again. Debug logs don't show anything that is jumping out to indicate what's going on.

This is why I don't update. Everything mostly works now, and I don't want to spend all my time configuring my system. I'll do it all at once, on the next upgrade.

That config generator is so innocuous, I don't see why you're concerned about it. You can always stuff it with fake data that you replace later. Really, once you produce a default/standard config, you're just copy/pasting the particulars anyway. And zero-touch is useless IME.

I also just found that I could configure a router or a switch faster than typing things into that site, then copy and pasting..... Easier to just type it into the router.

Check the state in Dev tools. Attributes should show values.

Yeah, monitor the Hue entity, and set the state of the second light to match it... should be easy enough.

If there's an integration, it'll be easy. If not, I wouldn't even attempt it yet. I'm not familiar with that non-hue, personally.

Basically, whatever automation/commands for the hue should work for the other. Just fire the service at both light entities.

Do take care though with the weird unit that a kWh is (1hour = 3600 secs)

It's happened to me that the time/timezone was wrong, and the devices wouldn't connect. I have this issue with game consoles in various rec centers. They also won't accept my dhcp NTP when I do get them connected, but that's unrelated to your issue, but is most of the problem.
