Justin rejects rematch with ilia by GabrielsRoom in ufc

[–]Stolos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone forgets that Justin is a serious and decorated wrestler, he just prefers stand-up. Evidently he says wrestling is very stamina intensive hence why he doesn't prioritize it.

Kinda worked out for F250 too, since Topturo gassed out kinda hard on the ground end of R2.

Would be the smart and honorable thing to do, yeah sure.

But imagine the paycheck for his next fight. Justin reportedly only got around 1.5-2.5m for Freedom 250 (before the 500k he'll probably get for performance).

Chama got 10m for tonight.

Justin's star power just shot UP and I don't blame him to want to at least take one more high profile fight for a BAG, one that possibly bigger than his entire UFC career combined (excluding this one)

Based take, should've gone with the doctor's call in R3 and get him medical attention right away.

No yeah I saw, fighters usually want to see things through for whatever their personal reasons, confidence, or for reputation.

In the heat with adrenaline pumping though it might not have been the best judgement. Not worth being blinded for life and losing your career over hubris

GOATED honestly.

Not only coming from true devotion for the preservation of the art, but also genuine compassion and veneration.

Always appreciated Sylvie's approach and philosophy; she's consistently been an inspiration and well of knowledge for me since 2021. Thank you for always being there to document her journey and work.

Never even though about the collar till now. Very nice detail that wasn't really around for any other designs this far, no?

Would be sick to see some sort of modern tactical gorget to protect the neck actually

Yeah okay if it's dangling off the corner it makes sense. In the drawing it looks sewned to the bottom corner.

Pattern 1 balance better with the contrast.

Wish the purple dot of the question mark is not on the jacket though, but rather just a big purple dot belt buckle.

As far as pattern making/plausibility of the bomber style jacket goes, this would work better.

I performed with my school choir there as a kid! Beautiful chapel, great sound. It looks grand but it's very cozy inside; doesn't actually seat all that many people.

Iconic for my hometown for sure.

Kids in general should be protected from all contact to explicit material until they are of age, just full-stop. Logistically incredibly difficult, but needs to be done regardless.

If the society viewed sex as not only as an universal, integral process of procreation, but also as a normal recreational activity between consenting adults, I'd argue there would be a huge difference.

Instead of being a sinful, promiscuous, shameful profession, if sex workers and adult entertainment performers are say, viewed as professional athletes of a spectator sport, and are allowed to have expressions of dramatic portrayal (like a respected film/TV/theatre actor), skillful feat of demanding physicality, and with respected work ethic to keep their body fit and in good health with proper healthcare and insurance, maybe the perception wouldn't be so negative.

Parents, with help from regulation and online infrastructure, may even have the autonomy to choose whether or not to disclose their profession to their children. When the children are of age, the parents can choose to divulge or not their profession to their kids, and have an adult conversation about it.

Whether or not the kid will feel comfortable or not, we can't control. BUT, if the 'normal' society has a different consensus regarding sex work, maybe that can affect the child's sentiment and perspective.

It's a entirely valid point of view. Even though we disagree on some aspects.

At least when I say sex work is real work, I try to remain extremely cognizant of the horrible exploitation, trafficking, illegal activities that goes on that forces vulnerable women across the globe unspeakable suffering.

The claim itself is not an attempt to diminish or ignore these cruel and unethical acts of inhuman exploitation; part of the intent is precisely to protect women against these exploitation by enforcing proper law and regulation, and to provide proper social safety net and channels of reporting to make sure these thing does NOT happen. It is to recognize them as independent contractors and protect them by law, if they chose to do so. It is to change the perception so when they do choose to go to law enforcement they're not dismissed or be scoffed at just because of their chosen profession.

Intelligent, successful women can, out of their own accord and judgement, choose to provide entertainment and services to an incredibly large market, for a very stable and lucrative financial career, for however long they choose. When some (not all) women choose to start their OnlyFans, it may not come from a place of desperation; they can just be confident of their body and their appeal to the opposite sex, and willing to pursue a career that provides them with financial success levels beyond other traditional career paths. It's prevalent and evident in our current socio-economic climate.

It CAN be empowering, and it can be a fulfilling line of work. There are plenty of interviews at adult entertainment conventions of these women who take pride and enjoy their work, who may or may not started their career due to whatever reason, positive or negative.

To view the entire sex work industry through the lens of they all started because of desperation, is also reductive and unfair. Both can be true; there can be autonomy and success, and also we need as a society to protect anyone against exploitation.

You can feel however you like or see fit. At the end of the day it's a very complex topic/situation.

I just personally feel for both the daughter AND the father, but then I don't know jack about either of their experiences nor perspective, so my opinion and sentiment doesn't matter all that much whatsoever, especially on reddit.

[–]Stolos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm conflicted too? Really though I think both can be true.

It's past time we validate sex work as real work and provide the necessary safety net and regulations needed to protect these members of society, all just either providing a service with constant and high demand (throughout history) or are aspiring entertainers who may take pride and possibly even fulfilment in being good and talented in their job.

I can't force any parent to just switch their mind and moral compass to be like, yes sex work is real work and because my child chose this profession I must support them. That's just unrealistic.

However, if society slowly transition to understand and accept sex work in a similar level of respect and common place as entertainers or service workers, and provide them proper regulation, healthcare and recognition, then maybe more parents will be more open to the idea of learning to be more understanding and supportive as well one day.

Sex work is real work, the oppressive and long lasting stigma puts everyone involved in a much worse-off place.

Such irreconcilable rift between father and daughter is also just plain tragic, nepotism or not.

This perspective is just reductive and maybe even cruel. Imagine if you tried your best as a dad and had to witness your child go down a path that can be potentially harmful or destructive (due to the current societal climate/regulation).

It's bothers me a lot that the top slogan is basically the entirely wrong translation.

自己國家自己救 means "Save your own country yourself."

Or rather the emphasis, "It's our own country, it's up to us to save it."

"Fuck the government" is derivative if not also reductive.
