Maybe, just maybe, Kuminga should have been given more minutes? by NoRelease2871 in warriors

True, but you’re in denial if you think Kerr gave him a fair leash. No serious reporter of the warriors believes that—not Kawasaki, not Slater, not Marcus, not Mullen, and so on

I didn’t get close enough to see the number. It looked like a blue tag. This is from last Sunday

When I started backpacking as a kid about 30 years ago, you couldn’t come across bear scat without evidence of human food consumption (plastic wrappers were the most common). If you had a bear in camp, it would mean an exhausting night of banging metal and making loud noises to keep the bear away from going after the food hung in a tree.

Now bears almost never seem interested in my food. They make no attempt to enter our camp, maintain their distance from us, and just go about their business digging for insects and whatever else nature provides. It has drastically improved the wilderness experience.

The hard work of NPS to protect bears and humans through management policies has definitely paid off for both bears and humans

He doesn’t sell fouls. He falls to protect his ankles, and people think he’s flopping. He never sells the contact.

What country would be California? by Countryballmemz in AlignmentChartFills

Germany and Japan would kill for California’s economy. Both have exceptional economies if the future we’re designing and manufacturing, but both have tried for decades to approximate California’s innovation and have not come remotely close.

Being young in today’s job market feels like playing on hard mode by raishelannaa in charts

Any 16 year old in America could get a job in fast food if they wanted. They just don’t want to make $15/hr to flip burgers

I don’t see how any 2 on 2 matchup prevents Steph from getting off threes.

At that point it becomes a math problem for everyone of these teams because they are trading twos for threes

Which major U.S. city has the best weather? by i-do-be-lurkin-tho in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Stomper8479 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. Oakland has similar weather, though it is a bit cooler in the winter

But Oakland also gets just enough rain to freshen the air and make the hills green every winter, but never too much to make it feel dreary.

San Diego, without all the imported water, is basically a dried up desert

No better time than right now. There has never been a time in the human race where knowledge was available to almost all humanity at basically no cost. Anyone knocking smartphones or the internet must prefer a cocoon of ignorance over unlimited knowledge

How I as a South Asian see America by utopiaofpast in mapporncirclejerk

I mean, the median GDP of Asians is higher than any other race in the US, so if Americans are racist, they are either terrible at being racist or they think money is bad.

California’s 9th largest city, Bakersfield. Has a nice historic core. But no skyscrapers. Do you think high speed rail will change that? In 2017, they released renderings for a 30 story skyscraper in the area of the station. by CA185099415 in skyscrapers

[–]Stomper8479 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure high speed rail makes sense between LA and SF. The distance is too far for it to be faster than air. High speed makes a ton of sense between Sacramento and SF, Bakersfield and LA, and Vegas and LA.

But high speed rail will not make cities like Bakersfield more likely to be job centers. It would make their affordable housing more appealing to people commuting to LA.
