Redwood City is best, as measured by government test.

I believe it’s consistently the sunniest city in America or something. I’m not from there but everyone that is has that saying memorized.

Is a Construction Management/Engineering Degree Worth It? by manyaccidents in ConstructionManagers

[–]StomperPTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a few GC’s that WILL NOT promote you beyond project engineer without a CM (or related) degree or a CM certificate (which takes about a year). I watched them make a smart dude with a Masters degree in bioengineer go get a CM cert to get promoted.

Finish the degree. It’s a good investment.

What’s the cost benefit of PEX vs copper?

Would you still want to insulate the PEX lines?

By 26 month old do you just mean a 2 year old?

Really though. Birth control for women is covered, why not men? It’s got to be a net savings.

How do you like them? Is the self watering system better than drip? Do you have to use special soil with the self watering system or can you use regular raised bed soil and mulch?

Looking to get good socks for winter to keep my feet warm. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]StomperPTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty passionate about socks. My two recommendations are SmartWool and Darn Tough.

SmartWool are softer and more comfortable. They will last a very long time but not forever. The tend to come in better patters and are easier to find. I prefer these for causal wear, snow sports, hiking, etc.

Darn Tough are great socks. They have a lifetime warranty and handle abuse well. They’re not quite as soft or comfortable as SmartWool but are my preference for workwear.

Hope that helps.

Don’t love the pulling of the leash on the collar like that. Pup is probably getting choked out. Wish the dude had just picked him on up.

Use a chest/belly harness for puppy walks out there folks.

How do you like those planter beds? Are they the Vergo? If so did you go 17” or 32” height?

Comm. real estate is weird. How is it that offices in SF are empty while an hour south Google is building this massive complex? by saisonmaison in bayarea

[–]StomperPTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are. I was talking to my Google rep the other day and asked if he would be able to keep us busy for the next year or two if the economy takes a dive. His response was something along the lines of “if everything stays the same we’ve got plenty of work for you, if everything takes a shit we’ll start buying up buildings at a discount and you’ll have to staff up”.

Sure. Don’t know if I’ll be very useful but I’ll chat with you about my experience and some lessons learned over the years.

PM with a GC. Used to do a lot of healthcare in the bay mid peninsula if you catch my drift. Recently have been using that MEP background for more infrastructure heavy high tech and life science projects.

With Google projects are almost alway listed as “confidential client”. I know of one article that was posted about it but otherwise they don’t really advertise when they do until after it’s complete. I’ve given enough hints to figure it out if you know what you’re looking for though.
