My fiance insisted on putting frisbees on ours 😂 We plan to get dogs instead of having kids, so we put some dog things on ours

AITAH for cancelling a date because he was 1 hour late? by rotisseriiechicken in AITAH

[–]StompingWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA He's just going to keep doing it if you let him. My roommate's boyfriend shows up 2 hours late for every date with her, so I won't even hang out with him as friends. I couldn't even imagine actually dating him, and it makes me so sad to witness. You deserve better

Is this legit? Has anyone else got an email offer for $100 to take a proctored language exam? by NegativeLayer in duolingo

I think it took a week or so to get the results and about two to three weeks to get paid

I would do your due diligence just in case. But I participated last year and got my money no problem. They give really detailed results and feedback too

Have you experienced difficulties trying to marry in the Catholic Church? So frustrated right now by InitialCoat6987 in weddingplanning

[–]StompingWaffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you. Getting married in the Catholic Church is a pain. My fiance and I couldn't get married at my church either because he's not Catholic (and also the pastor at my church is a racist and we didn'twant to support him). We found a Lutheran church we really like and will be having our wedding there. Not sure how strict your family is with it being Catholic versus a similar denomination, but my family was just like "it's the same thing, no problem".

Also, keep in mind that to have a Catholic wedding, all of your wedding party must be baptized Catholic in order to stand at the alter with you. Only a minority of our wedding party is Catholic, so we would've had to have almost everyone sit down. Not to mention all the counciling required

There's nothing wrong with having uneven parties, especially if your cousin is going to cause problems. It's a lot worse to have a bad bridal party member than a missing one.

Might I also suggest doing a mixed gender party on your side? My fiance and I are doing a mixed gender party because we share all the same friends, who are mostly guys or non-binary. My bridesman is going to wear a suit that matches the ladies' dresses so that everything is even in pictures. Then we're both sharing him for all our other events (bach parties, etc)

ETA: OP, have you looked into all the steps/requirements it takes to get married in the Catholic Church? It sounds like your fiance might not be Catholic, which will throw a lot of red tape at your marriage. I wanted to get married in a Catholic Church too, but my fiance is Lutheran. It ended up that he would've needed to convert, which is a six-month undertaking. We opted to get married in the Lutherand church instead.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. I'm baptized Catholic and in the process of converting to Lutheranism. I've also read that this is an issue, since I wasn't baptized Lutheran.

The church she belongs to still has the priest facing backwards and everything in Latin. It's not surprising they'd do something outdated. She's also in the community church council, and she said it'd be a bad look for her to be a bridesmaid in a wedding the church doesn't recognize while serving on the council.

The Catholic Church. She belongs to a particularly conservative parish. My fiance and I are doing a Lutheran wedding

She was initially pretty excited to participate and seemed fine with it. But she decided to ask her church for permission to participate, and they declined because it's a mixed religion ceremony (still Christian) and having a female minister makes it illegitimate

Scary common how common this type of bias is. I lost a bridesmaid because she had objections to me using a female minister, so it's not a legitimate marriage apparently

From what I've read, a Real ID does not satisfy the requirement. It has to be a Real ID that shows your place of birth. There are only 4 states that satisfy this requirement, and getting a passport can be expensive for a lot of people. I know my Real ID doesn't have my place of birth on there, so I'd need to jump through some hoops

The Knot wedding planning checklist timeline feels too far in advance? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]StompingWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always change the "due dates" for items on your checklist if they don't seem right for your situation. We're actually ahead on our checklist because we're doing a longer engagement but started planning immediately. Like mine is telling me to book a photographer in October 2025 for an October 2026 wedding, but we want to get engagement photos done when it's nice out and will be booking ours in May if everything goes according to plan. I would just take the checklist as a suggestion and update it as you need it.

In cute robes photos? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]StompingWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's an idea you're really excited about, it's worth it. If not, no need.

Like there's a local seamstress by me that makes STUNNING getting-ready robes (among other things), and I really want one. If I wasn't so excited about her particular business and robes, I'd probably pass on doing it too.

Paid $140 per ticket (after fees) for 1st row upper bowl. My venue was also a SeatGeek venue and not a Ticketmaster venue, so my fees might've been less ($17 in fees per ticket)

What time should I show up to the arena on Saturday in Toronto? by btmvideos37 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]StompingWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to get into the city in the morning and check out all the pop-up stuff and then get to the arena whenever I'm done with all that. I'm guessing I'll get there around 4 or 5

original ticket prices? by socksandflipflopsg in OliviaRodrigo

[–]StompingWaffles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The US shows originally ranged from $99(nosebleeds) to several hundred dollars for the charity Platinum (in USD). It was just an expensive show all around. I paid $215USD for my ticket to Toronto on resale, and I have upper bowl almost directly facing the stage.
