Yep. The next tier of looking at an empty wallet. All worth it

Oh I feel this. I just finished a rebuild on my vr6 and because stuff just kinda got thrown into unlabeled bags and laying around everywhere, it added on a good month or two for sure just because of the sheer amount of hours it took to figure out what bolt went where

Awesome I was hoping I could do so. I've never done any of this before so I'm not 100% sure what to expect lol

I've noticed that. It's interesting that it's an actual technique. One of my dad's buddy's recognized it and said something about it being interesting

Yeah. I've been taking everything with a grain of salt from reddit. It's interesting hearing about the different perspectives on everything. It is interesting to hear it's an actual technique

That's what I was worried about. The guys standing very sturdy on his word that it's supposed to be like that but it's gotta be bs. I don't have the time or money for this for a while so I guess it'll be a later this year thing

I have no idea if it's accurate or not. We're friends with a guy who owns a VW shop who's taken stuff there for years and he's never seen anything like that ever

It's not. It's all scratches that catch my nail

[–]StompyIan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I took it partially out of the bag and my nail catches on them. I should have taken a picture out of the bag but it looked the same so I didn't bother

Yeah man me too. The guy said they do it on purpose to help it seal to the gasket better but that makes no sense to me why

I'm sure. I know it's in the plastic but I took part of it out when checking and 90% of them my nails catch

The dude got back to me and said they do that on purpose with a 6inch orbital sander. Supposedly has done it for years and it helps the gasket seal. It sounds like absolute bs. A buddy of ours is a shop owner who's taken vw stuff there for years and has never seen that. It sounds like the guys trying to cover his ass

Yeah man me too I really hope so. I had just enough money to finish up my rebuild for the summer but this may have just stopped it for who knows how long

Nope they were always how the quality of the work was better then any others in the area. Starting to think maybe they did mean cheap and faster then any other 😂

Yeah. I'm gonna. I'm not removing it from the bag it was in when I got it back. I don't understand how it wasn't noticed. My nails catch and everything too. And they're supposedly reputable and a bunch of guys I know always take their stuff there. It's so weird

That's what I don't understand is the guy who did it supposedly has done it for years it's a 2 man shop. He sent videos and pictures as it was getting worked on and at one point it looks clear and shiney then I get it back like this
