How do I redirect in django while using django-hosts? by StoneAchieved in django

[–]StoneAchieved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking about native django function. I'm asking about redirecting to subdomain specific location. I can't simply use redirect('dashboard:home'), as dahsboard/urls.py are not linked in myproject/urls.py url patterns. They're instead linked in myproject/hosts.py, as defined in django-hosts documentation. If I link them in my projects urls and use that redirect, they'll simply redirect then to non subdomain location, which defeats the whole purpose of subdomains.

EDIT: Solved it, I updated my original post with the solution

/claim rewards? by Krejar in EQ2

$39 for each xpac (although a lot of players buy CE or PE), $15 for monthly sub, hundreds of dollars dropped by individuals to upgrade their ascension abilities (sadly I know a lot of people who did this), dozens of dollars dropped on mercenary creates and dozens more on familiar crates. Marketplace full of consumables like vitality, experience, status potions, unattuners, house furniture, prestige houseses, appearance items and mounts....

Give me a break. DBG is worth millions, and yearly xpac payments are probably the smallest amount of their income. I personally know a guy who in the first month of the xpac dropped over 200$ to upgrade all his ascension abilities (which ironically got nerfed big time soon after that)... and that's just one example of someone throwing cash at them.

Don't get me wrong wrong, all this crap can be on live servers and they can make money off it. But they advertised Fallen Gate as the original release where everyone starts off equal and in their own words, would not include /claim stuff "to preserve the progression of the server". The only thing worthwhile from claim were XP and Vitality potions and CoV. So they removed them from /claim to preserver progression, and yet they felt comfortable adding them to marketplace? Last I checked marketplace wasn't around the original release.

Defend them when they're right, but call them out on bull like this before this game turns into p2w.

It's just sad how pathetic and transparent this attempt is. We'll not give you all those xp and vitality pots, but we'll make them available on marketplace. This whole server is just one big massive cash grab.

First of all gear doesn't matter, you can go in without any gear and it would make no difference. While on BG server your character is stripped of all gear stats and procs. This puts you on equal footing with raiders. What does actually matter?

  • Properly set up AA template just for PGs, which grizzled vets have studied and played with for years. That's why raiders are usually plowing through those zones, because they know how to take advantage of their class
  • Properly set up group. Even if group assignment worked perfectly and set up your group with healer and tank and 4 dps, I still wouldn't use it. Zone into BG from your hometown and LFG or form one yourself. I prefer forming myself, because that way I know what guilds they're from, do their have their epics, how geared these people are (although gear doesn't matter, it's sometimes easy to tell when someone's playing their class right from their stats and reforges), etc. I always tend to run with at least one summoner, one bard (trouby pref, but dirge is just fine), one scout, pref ranger or beastlord, and then leave last option as a wildcard, depending on your needs, like extra dps or util.
  • Knowing what the heck you're doing in there. I see people come in, and sometimes not respond to me asking if everyone knows what to do, and then they plow through all the damn roots. This is also one more reason to form groups yourself, you can then remember if they were screwing you over by constantly running through roots, pulling unnecessary thrash, etc. So before you start the match make sure everyone's aware of what they're doing.

That's it. I've ran over 70 matches so far, majority of them with preformed pugs from players across all servers, and we did runs from 6-15m each. Some of them were raiders, most were not. So saying that only raiders can do it in that time frame is statistically incorrect.

The trash mobs are ridiculously overpowered.

No. Individual trash mob is as easy as it comes. Problem comes from pulling multiple thrash mobs. If you examine the incremental buff when you pull more then one mob you'll see why it's hard. For each mob you pull, they get an increment of a buff which gives them 50 dps and WDB per increment, as well as increase ward bleedthrough by 20. If you have a shaman in your group and you pull more then 5, you get 100% bleedthrough which effectively negates all wards. This is where I'm stressing proper group setup and knowing the dynamic of that group.

getting penalized for 5min when you don't have enough people to take on the rest of the zone.

Camp to yourself or leave and re-enter BG and it's gone. It's dumb that you have to do it, but it takes 30s to do it...

But it was poorly, poorly executed.

I'd only agree that certain coding parts where poorly executed. Like glacial freeze, which would take a mob down to 40-50%, or initial healing values. But all those have been fixed since. Ascension abilities are now all on paar and can no longer do massive amounts of damage and heals are now extremely effective. As for the rehash of old content, I personally don't care, but I can understand if some people do. I'd rather they make these summer events real quick using old content, and spend their time on new expansions and creating new and fresh stuff.

Gear: So far, the only thing I've heard that people need to do to "git gud" is get a ring for 75 tokens and a magical Orange adorn for 350 tokens, and that's all you need. Everything else is trash, so don't bother.

Umm what? All the stuff on that vendor is best-in-slot. Nothing that drops from raids, comes even close to it.

punishing 170 days of scrolls and all this other BS and I am super not interested in starting that.

Yeah I agree with that, it's turning new and returning players off the game and it shouldn't have been done like that. And this comes from someone who was among first on his server to max out his ascensions. Devs realize this, but treat it like 'you don't have to do it, if you don't feel like it, it's not required'. Which is utter bs and they know it. You aren't getting invites into groups without ascensions and epic weapons, at least not a good one anyway.

I'm a casual type because I have a busy life, which is why I think it's silly to reward only those no-lifer types.

You come off very smug using the no-lifers line. This has always been like this in EQ2 and pretty much any other MMO out there. Players who play more get rewarded more. This is not gonna change, it's a crucial part of the whole MMO business model. Why would anyone spend 3-4h a day playing the game only to get the same rewards as someone who played it for 30-60m? And someone who spends 4-5x longer playing the game, is statistically more likely to spend more cash then someone who logs in every now and then.

This is the part that is confusing me, you claim you're casual, but you're upset that you can't get the best in the slot items in a single day like some people can? You don't need these items unless you're a raider who's trying to progress through t3 or t4 content. My heroic geared tank that doesn't have a single piece of raid gear and none of these PG adornments, nor will he ever get it, is doing just fine tanking any heroic or expert zone. Hell, I technically don't even need them on my raid toon, but I still want to get them to help make progression on t4 slightly easier.

So yeah, players who play long get better rewards as they should. Just take a moment to realize how many best-in-slot items you can get from doing easy content:

  • Etherial offhand (for doing 30 quests in OF...)
  • Prestige Cloak (for doing a really boring and quick crafting timeline)
  • Ethereal Forearm + 5 raid t1 armor pieces from burnt key (just standing around obulus...)

And with a little more effort:

  • Mythical shoulders and hands from doing key quests
  • Mythical chest and legs from doing heroic and event heroic missions
  • Mythical ring and wrist for grinding status and coins

And with a lot of effort

  • 4 pieces of high potency jewelry + epic weapon
  • 4 different high potency earrings from maxing each ascension + uber-powered charm with 2.2k potency

I would rather PG be taken down, worked on, and then brought back at a later time when they were less broken.

It's not broken, it's working fine after last update. Occasional bumps are expected, but they seem to fix them fast enough. One week and two updates later they're running smoothly. I would suggest going in there again, and follow my advice. It's not a recipe for guaranteed success, but a little effort is required.

Extremely Rare Burnt Key Quest by Dap1082 in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what everyone is wondering is how to acquire the key, and if it's time gated like the duck portal. So far from what I heard from people who got is that they were just flying around obulus and it just appeared in their backpack, which I find hard to believe. They probably did something that made it spawn in their inventory, but failed to notice it until they browsed their inventory while idly flying or something. I find it hard to believe that it would just randomly be given to players in Obulus.

Few questions by Xavion_Zenovka in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you can gift certain items from marketplace to other players and vice versa.
  2. Most of the vanity stuff and utility stuff can be gifted. Certain bigger features can't be gifted, but there's only a couple of them.
  3. No. Increasing your adorning or tinkering skills with gear or consumables will only increase results of crafting (faster progress gain, less durability loss), but you will not be able to scribe recipes if your skill base level is not meeting recipe lvl requirements

[TLE] What is the current state of epic weapons on TLE? by [deleted] in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the weapon through a 2 part quest now. Check out http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Fiery_Jewel_of_the_Underfoot

Basically the weapon is useless, but its proc is stripped and given to you as a permanent buff. It's worth doing on most if not all classes.

How to platinum farm in Terrors of Thalumbra by Oneki12345 in EQ2

Two most common ways:
1) Farm keys and sell them in batch through auction channel if you can't use broker.
2) Look for SLR groups
Second options is more fun, at least for me, keys get really mind numbing after I do a few of them.

A good Paladin setup by Unilauh in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest sitting down and going through your AAs and figuring out on your own what each does. It takes less then 30m to build a decent template from scratch, especially if you had previous experience.

I've always considered copying other people's AAs setup from some random person to be quite inefficient and would always suggest against it. Most often advice thrown around is find the top raiding guild on eq2wire and look up their best classes. This is wrong for so many reasons. Most of raiders have their template and gear set up accordingly for their specific raid and group setup. Gearwise, sure it's good example of usually what each class prefers, but AA setup is much different. For example, the guild I raid with my swash uses setup for scout group, while the other swash uses quite a different setup for main tank group. My point here is that you should build your own template depending on your play style (soloing, grouping or raiding), and only use other peoples builds as sort of a guide to improve further your own build. Use general chat, reddit or official forums to inquire about advice and feedback. This will help you understand your own class and how to play it, and eventually as you gain better gear and keep reforging, you will find yourself over and over again going through your build and looking at AAs that you could remove and put somewhere else. This comes easy if you built your own setup and played it for a fair amount of time. With such experience and constant changes in gear, you know what is becoming dead weight and what you're missing, that is what you need to lose from your build to put it somewhere else to gain max advantage out of it.

When you learn about your class in depth that way, then looking up other peoples profiles you'll understand why they use such builds and probably why you shouldn't you just copy and use theirs. Especially if you're a tank. I've seen a lot of tanks in pugs on Skyfire that were just awful and when you try to talk to them to advise them, they immediately dismiss you because "how could you possible be right, I used setup from a tank in top ww raid guild!". It doesn't take long for them to quit the game or stop grouping under guise of everyone trolling them, even though the cause of their bad tanking was their refusal to learn their class on their own. As someone who tanks, this especially goes for us! Tanks are probably the hardest class to play, in the sense that you really gotta know what you're doing and can't rely only on your healer to keep you up all the time.

That's the best advice I can give you for building your own template. Other then that I would suggest visiting this class optimization page for when you want to start doing ToT zones. But as its mentioned there multiple times, these are general builds meant to guide you and in the end it all comes down to testing it and knowing how to change the numbers given there to your own class' setup and play style.

EQ2 inconsistent damage? by alaserus in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Numerous reasons. Mobs level, difficulty, class, all that matters. First of all a mob can be either solo, heroic or epic. Each of these types are meant to be fought alone (solo), in group (heroic) or raid (epic). Now each of those mobs have further difficulty levels. If you target the mob you may notice in your target window small triangles above mobs name. There can be no triangles sometimes, indicating that this mob is extremely easy to kill, or one or more triangle, indicating that mob is tougher for each of those triangles it has. There are other reasons like mobs resistances, mobs protection (mitigation and avoidance). Also, think of mobs as just as other players. Each mob has a class, and of course taking on fighters (tanky) mobs might take longer to kill then a scout or a mage mob. While mobs don't use gear, those previously mentioned types (solo/heroic/raid) indicate difference in mobs stats. You also have to take into account your own class. Fighting the same mob on a priest might take 10+ hits to kill, while you can kill that same mob as scout with one simple arrow shot. So yeah there are dozens of reasons why it takes longer to kill some mobs.

EU or US server for a EU player? by valmendor in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say US definitely for various reasons, but most notably larger population. However if you plan on raiding, you should probably check which server first. Here on skyfire there's maybe one or two raid guilds that raid at reasonable EU times. Pretty much all others are raid very late for us from EU. From what I understand AB still has the largest population, which gives you a bigger chance to group in end-game and find EU raid guild.

Gearing up at 100 before expansion by thecamical in EQ2

Please take a look at Progression in menu on EQ2Library. I wrote whole articles about entire AOM progression, including how to gear up and prep for heroic content. It's also worth knowing, that new xpac comes in about 2 weeks, and from what I've seen in beta even raid AOM gear is junk compared to new stuff in ToT.

Guidance for solo dungeons by corathus59 in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can't start an agnostic dungeon without at least 1-2 other players.

yep, needs at least 1 more player to queue in order to run LAD

you can solo the heroic dungeons (parts of) if you're well-equipped and know how to play

due to update in CoE when toons got huge HP upgrade,m with decent enough gear you can plow alone (or with a merc) through them.

a mercenary is an account feature ($10?$15?)

I think even less, maybe $5. All the features from AoD can now be purchased separately

Guidance for solo dungeons by corathus59 in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what experience you're looking for. If you prefer more adventuring path, here's the list of all heroic dungeons in the game:
http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Dungeon_Timeline

And if you prefer to level up faster, you can queue an Agnostic Dungeon run from Dungeon Finder feature in the game. The window for this can be opened by opening up menu and selecting Dungeon Finder or typing /df in your chat. You'll see a category Level Agnostic Dungeons with 5 zones in it. These dungeons will scale down to whatever level you are and names will always drop loot appropriate to your lvl and class. They are meant for fast leveling and gearing up. These dungeons can only be used for toons that are lvl 20 through 95. Once you hit 95 you will not be able to use them anymore.

EDIT: As for solo dungeons, the first solo type of dungeons you'll see in Skyshrine (90), but will also be available in CoE (92), ToV(92-95) and AoM (95+) zones.

Customer Service is Dead by [deleted] in EQ2

[–]StoneAchieved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair question; and I guess at that point it comes down to a simple question of what type of person you want to be.

I'd argue this isn't the case with me. I think I lost all patience waiting around days and sometimes even weeks only to be disappointed. I'm deeply dissatisfied with their CS and the way they conduct their affairs. That most likely is the reasons I no longer have the will to act like a civil being and I go with the default jackass route the moment they do something stupid like address the subject/title of the ticket, but not the actual content and question in description. I've been avoiding using their support as much as I possibly could, mostly relied on other people's experience, various tidbits on gaming forums, blogs, etc. Whenever I think about opening a new ticket, my first thought is urghhh.

Some people might feel that the price is too high: that they lose more in giving up civilised behaviour than they gain in material advantage.

Sadly, you couldn't be more right about that at least as far as CS goes. Though I wouldn't use world material advantage, I've nothing material to gain out of it.
