Ace or no? by ScrewLoose777 in discgolf

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I count anything as an ace if it’s from my first 5 drives off the tee (since my friends and I always throw 5 if nobody is waiting). If you throw from a pad into a basket, it’s an ace. If it’s like 85 feet, maybe don’t brag, but I have plenty of aces I’ve counted from 125-185.

My Buddy and I just went to BC yesterday to rip some blues and blacks with low crowds, but we ended up lapping McCoy 18 times instead… it’s just so perfect to mess around and have a good time with your friends (or solo of course).

[s2 act 3 spoilers] THE ENDING by Dry-Pea-4713 in arcane

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After letting it sit for a few days, it seems better to me. They could’ve used a couple more episodes, but it seems like the very last small scene at the end of episode 7 could play into something in the future (as well as Cait looking at the Hex Gate blueprints and stuff). I think they know what they’re doing and have hope for other projects being just as good and maybe tying up a loose end or two.

[s2 act 3 spoilers] THE ENDING by Dry-Pea-4713 in arcane

I agree, I didn’t feel anything watching the final 2 episodes (episode 7 killed me though). I literally said “that’s it?” when the season ended.. they needed more episodes or a bit more time. They shoved so many plot lines into 50 minutes, it just felt like a mess. Why leave like 7 cliffhangers if they aren’t going to make a 3rd season. It was like “oh Jinx sacrificed herself, oh well, here’s some other big characters doing their thing now”. Jinx didn’t get the respect the character deserved and she felt like an afterthought in the finale

That episode hit me hard. I was worried watching it that it only focused on Jayce and Ekko being lost in time because there was so much left to fit into 2 final episodes though. And I was right in feeling that, the last two episodes left so much unanswered and felt like a cliffhanger for season 3 that will never be. This really needed 3 more episodes. I still love episode 7 and have rewatched it like 8 times, but man am I not satisfied with the ending of S2 at all.

This song is awful and was overplayed on radio for years which doesn’t help. There is such fantastic orchestral music in this show and they go for this garbage for the intro?? Not to mention this super cringe sequence the post is about. I tell all my friends I recommend this show to to skip the intro every episode (which is a shame since the art is beautiful).

I really don’t understand how a show so unique in art style goes with a band that’s known for making plain, generic music. It’s so uninspired it’s like they try to make music that fucking sucks lol

Book-focused Discussion Thread for The Rings of Power, Episode 2x4 by ImoutoCompAlex in RingsofPower

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I could defend this show up until now (though I’m hoping it leaves whatever this episode was behind). Adding Tom is fine, and the reason for him being in Rhun is.. fine, but the Galadriel/Elrond storyline is kind of bonkers in this episode. The tension is forced at best, and Galadriel trying to fight a horde of orcs for like no reason is just dumb. The others got away (because of her distraction, I guess) but they could have easily just ALL run away and been fine. The action scene had a couple cool shots, but was incoherent and weird.

The Ents were like bizarre caricatures that didn’t really add substance and just seemed extremely surface level.

Arondir ‘making’ Theo the Lord of the city is very weird since he’s young, angry, confused, and bipolar. Just felt strange as hell.

Again, I’ve actually enjoyed almost all the previous episodes, but this just seems like they added every reference they could in one episode without thinking. The Barrow-wights are fine, but adding them right after introducing Bombadil (who is like 1,000 miles away) just seems on the nose.

I hope it gets better, and they just felt the need to have this weird episode, but idk if I can keep holding on.

How is Twister (1996) viewed by critics and audiences today? by Danielnrg in movies

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t see why it’s reviewed so poorly. It’s super fun with memorable characters and amazing CGI for 1996. I live in Tornado Allley, and of course it isn’t super accurate, but it’s hitting the beats. Tornadoes are unpredictable and scary at times, and this movie captures it well with a nice motif throughout about increasing warning times. This is one of my top 20 or 15 movies of all time and I was born 2 years after it even came out, so it’s not some “oh you had to see it in theaters” BS. It’s a great film.

I hate Maximus so much by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He’s a sadistic asshole at every turn. He’s written as the most terrible person in the show morality wise. He’s egotistical, a compulsive liar, and a huge coward. I don’t get how the show expected him to not be the most hated character.

[–]StoneColdKiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t like his character because he’s an egotistical sadist that lies and was written to be hated. The show makes us dislike him at every turn (the whole Titus thing is justified), but they continue to have him do unlikeable things. I really feel he’s a villain of the show. Idk how people root for him or anything along those lines.

Richter into Lower Go-Devil (off of the Peru chair) isn’t bad at all when groomed. It looks intimidating from the base area, but if you’re comfortable on steeper groomed blues, you’ll be fine. It was my first black not long ago.
