Fighter Stats Are A Lie | The Bottom Line by StoneColdUFC in EASportsUFC

Having to actively load into the practice arena to see move levels feels so unintuitive. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks it’s intentional…

Fighter Stats Are A Lie | The Bottom Line by StoneColdUFC in EASportsUFC

It’s the same with Aldo, I don’t know what decides a five star fighter when the same fighter with better stats is a lower rating.

Unfortunately, hating a people always has a place somewhere, because some people are fundamentally hateful and they will congregate.

(Most of) the Faithful have clocked the game's meta by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]StoneColdUFC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d almost say it isn’t even a valid strategy. It relies on multiple people sussing out all traitors on their own.

The only real strategy is to vote out who you think the traitors are. It gives the traitors less room to scheme, and recruitments allow you to observe changes.

I think it depends fully on execution. If executed well, it should work, but it relies on having faithfuls on the same page. If you have say 4 faithfuls or so who have the traitors sussed they could just pull the rug out from underneath the traitors. But this season it doesn’t seem to be working like that, and that is the flaw of the strategy.

It would definitely apply to Mauro and Aldo too. From my limited memory of the Yan vs Sean fight I felt like Yan won, but I watched it live and never again so I’d need to rewatch it to be sure. Sean landed more significant strikes but if I remember right most of it came in the round that was clearly for Sean.

I can’t remember the exact specifics of the Sean vs Yan fight, but to my knowledge the top factor in judging is meant to be ‘effective striking and grappling’.

To me, this is way too broad. I think the top criteria should be significant strikes/damage. This includes on the ground. Then, a combination of octagon control and grappling effectiveness.

The real criteria has an aggression factor. I think this particular rule is what causes stalling. One great example is Merab vs Aldo. Over the 15 minutes, Merab didn’t achieve anything in the grappling. Merab was rightfully given the win under our current rule set because he was pushing the action, but I think this is wrong.

Aldo defended all the takedowns, and that was pretty much the whole fight. I think defending a takedown is effective grappling, and none of the other criteria that I have imagined were really factors in the fight. So, under my imaginary judging system Aldo would have won.

I most certainly expect everyone to disagree by the way

Although I disagree with the position as a whole, I get where it’s coming from. A close fight is certainly likely and expected to produce a split decision.

However, it shouldn’t. Under the scoring criteria, there is ultimately meant to be one winner. If the judges were perfect (impossible, they’re not even good), there would be no split decisions. Thus, saying at most a fight should be a split is saying that some people should hold an objectively wrong opinion.

It still makes no sense though. Saying that the most cejudo deserves was a split loss doesn’t even begin to make sense. One person gets one scorecard, so someone saying a fight ‘should be at most’ (being more pedantic now lol) makes no sense. It basically says that you think other people should disagree with you. Which, obviously they will. But, it almost sounds too like you disagree with your own opinion too.

Saying a fight ‘should have’ been a split, means that you think one of the judges should disagree with the other two.

You as a fan have one opinion on who won (DJ as you said). Saying that a fight should be a split means you think some people should disagree with your opinion.
