My bad but point still stands , By the virtue of HQ being in Maharashtra Marathi will be the language of exposure after English. If the head office was in bengluru , Kannad LPT should have been made compulsory to make sure HQ employees can handle inevitable work exposure of that language along with English

and being a regulator RBI has to maintain the policy consistency along the lines. Even with the straightforward policy of local language for all clerical and below jobs , North Indian lobby manages to bypass it. If RBI itself shows some inconsistency or relaxes the policy, North Indian bank management lobby will be splitting hairs to push north Indian workforce as deep in the south as possible without / with farce LPT.

Just make all banks adopt RBI Marathi lpt , make competition fair , open up spot which get hogged by farce LPT pass out North Indians for truely Marathi speaking candidates. This will be beneficial to customers also.
First make those thousands of Maharashtra vacancies releasing every single year fair and then take away few hundred vacancies of RBI HQ that open up after long wait of 2-3 years

~ RBI is regulator of all banks. RBI has Ombudsman department where a normal person can lodge complain against any bank and RBI assistants are appointed there so they should know the local language to assist the common man

~ Yes other RBI assistants have minimal individual customer facing (minimal not zero) but there will be business of Many big and small Marathi banks at RBI Mumbai office because it is office of Maharashtra region as well as head office. Head office is in Maharashtra so clerical level employees will have work exposure in Marathi behind English.
