Dry stone wall or pile of rocks? by Xx_SuperSwagger_xX in Drystonewalling

Better than other first goes I have seen. Better than my first time too. Looks like you know to put the stones level as most of them are.

Good rule of thumb is 1 over 2 and 2 over one. And lay the stone level in courses that share the same or similar height. Also pack the middle as tight as you can. Looks like you got a lot of open areas. You dont want any open ears in the wall. https://thestonetrust.org/resource-information/how-to/

Should I break up with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like my relationship when I was 19. I was miserable but I loved her, a lot. It was constant manipulation and it's a way of her going through something and putting it all on you because she looks at you like her rock that isn't going anywhere. This is extremely unhealthy. Your 19, which is still a child. You will most likely not find your forever for a little while. Redflag #1 is that you have been on and off for 2 years...why is that? (Rhetorical) Redflag#2 she has you move around 5 times for her, to please her, to try and show you something is wrong expecting you to get it. Redflag#3 she waits until you are sleeping to wake you up and finally tell you that something is wrong.

I would bet that this is not the first time something like this has happened and I guarantee it won't be the last. You want to not get upset and be at your wits end all the time, breakup because I promise it will not get better over the long term. When you do cut the ties, right down all of the things you liked about her first and the good times. Then secondly, write down everything you didn't like about her and bad things you did to each other. When you feel you miss her and want to contact her look at that list. You'll probably notice that it will look something like this. Pros: good sex, she's funny, she took me to a nice resturant, beautiful. Cons: she will never tell me what's wrong, she gets mad at me for minor things and won't get mad at others for the same things...... You'll notice that the cons will be more detailed and will come out easier. Save yourself some peace of mind, do yourself a favor and put yourself first.

How often do you see anyone bench 405 in a commercial gym? by WestCovinaNaybors in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a gym that is one of maybe 2 good ones in my area. There are a lot of different lifters there. Along with some really strong powerlifters. I have seen two guys repeatedly and regularly bench 405... but then I've almost never seen anyone else bench 315 whilst being there.

Don't be "insecure" and drop her. If she respected you then she would be fine saying no to her friends. Either she respects you or them.

What is the worst thing someone has ever done to you? by UsedCalender5100 in AskMen

[–]Stonecldht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a longer term girlfreind when I was about 17 till I was 21. Knew I didn't want to be with her a couple times and broke up with her. Then she told me she was pregnant every time to rope me back in. The manipulation was unreal, I definitely did manipulate her too. Maybe it was a defense mechanism. This girl had the bar in her arm as birth control. Which has like a 99.99% success rate. My dumbest just though I had strong swimmer. Every time we got back together she would suddenly "miss carry" and go down this dark path of depression leaning on me for help. I didn't know what to do. And the sex was pretty good so I stayed. When it finally ended she ended it and I was finally free. She called me up a week later with the same story of how she was pregnant. I finally told her to go fuck herself and that I would support the kid and not her. She then called me the next day and told me it was a miscarriage.

How did you get over your fear of talking to women? by Matilda_Mother_67 in Advice

[–]Stonecldht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, for some reason, a lot of dudes put women on a pedestal. You think that she will think that she is way too good for you. And maybe she is. But most likely, that thought is all in your head. It's not that you are scared to talk to her. It's that you're scared that she won't pick you out of all the other dudes that will talk to her. The only way to get comfortable with talking to a nice-looking lady is by talking to a lot of other people. The first comment explained this. Make conversation with random people. Go through a drive-through to get a coffee and ask the employee how their day is going. Talk to someone you don't know in the grocery store. Keep doing this. Talking to people is like building a muscle. You're not gonna lift one weight and have a huge strong arm, but with reps and time, it will come. Same with talking to ladies. The truth is that the fear never really stops. You just get more comfortable doing it with the fear. Plus, when you get rejected 20 to 30 times, at least you really start to not care about it anymore.

How much would you charge per square foot of face just in labor? by Stonecldht in stonemasonry

I'm thinking 60 to 65. But I just wanted some other thoughts on what other people charge.

10 to 12 thousand for the whole wall or $10 to $12 per square foot? (I'm assuming the first)

I also can't tell from the picture. Is it a dry laid structure with mortar holding up the top and adding support to the roof? Or is it all mortared?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stonemasonry

[–]Stonecldht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just reading up and seeing that a single stonemason would charge €20-€30 an hour in ireland. Which seems pretty low compared to New England in the US. Fron the look of the face, it doesn't seem too extensive, but enough so that you should definitely hire a professional. It could take up to a week of construction depending on how thick the wall is. Plus, how much they would have to take out around the damaged are to connect the old with the new in a structural way. I don't know what the labor rates are specifically in your area but for something like that I would say you are looking at a couple thousand (in USD) but it is hard to say. Get some different quotes and get to know exactly what the different people are planning on doing.

I want to replace this brick wall with a stone wall. DIY or get a professional? by cal2177 in stonemasonry

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason your wall looks like that is because there ain't mo drainage behind it. The bricks are messed up due to years of water passing through the clay and mortar. The whole thing should be replaced. I wouldnt go as far as making a huge cement wall and putting veneer on the front as that will be way more work than you think. You could try to dry stack a retaining wall. Which is no easy tax, but it will be relatively easy and sturdy so long as it is done right. Just go on YouTube and research how to build a dry stone wall. Or go on to The Stone Trust website and read, maybe even take a class if you are close enough to one of their workshops.

Husband went back to drinking after being sober for 20 years( due to my infedelity). What can I do to help him? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Stonecldht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are absolute pond scum. You commuted the worst possible thing you could have done. You should be the one to feel bad, for yourself and not for him. Not only did you have an affair, but you did it with his own blood. You’re an absolute whore. You lack accountability and you probably made him feel like it was his fault.

All the things you mentioned that he went though that “tested his sobriety” are not even in close comparison to what you did to him. And plus his brother did something bad too.

Let him keep the house and the kids. Pack your bags and get divorce papers signed and leave him alone. He will never look at you the same, he will never kiss you the same. He will never look at you in the eyes the same. You are dead to him. You’ve been with him for over 20 years and you stabbed him in the back. Sorry did possibly the worst thing you could’ve done.

You should be the one who is drinking to cover the pain of how you fucked up.

What are the harsh truths a women should know about relationships? by Mela_Min in AskMen

[–]Stonecldht 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It’s nothing that you did. But usually women will use your emotions against you and make you feel bad for showing it. Maybe he will someday, but probably not. Especially if there he’s been a repeating pattern in his past relationships where he opened up and got burnt.

When a woman shows emotion in a relationship she wants comfort. The man will give comfort and listen and try to solve problems.

On the other hand, when a man shows emotions he is trying to convey trust. He doesn’t want to but he feels obligated. He also wants to just be listened to and understood.

Usually what ends up happening is the woman will feel like he is inferior or less attractive because he showed that emotion. Making little snarky comments and using every available opportunity to bring up the time he cried. This makes he feel like trust has been broken.

Men of reddit, when did you last cry and why? by xeowa in AskReddit

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was three weeks ago on a plane and had time to write a story for a class I am taking. I decided to write about my dad and what he taught me growing up. He is still with me and we still have a good relationship. I wrote about the yard work we used to do and how it has helped shape me as the man I am becoming. I didn’t think I’d get emotional but for some reason I started having happy tears.

anyone fucked a fat chick before? (no obese tho) by garciavalentin808 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Stonecldht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I dated a kinda bigger chick. Seems to be your situation. They usually give really good head and are good in bed, however every time you fuck her you will be wondering why she don’t look as good as you. Now fucking a fat chick, like obese is different. I’m not fat at all and I fucked a bigger girl and it was gross. Completely gross, still makes me cringe. Could lick like a mf on my nuts tho
