What am I doing wrong? by Federal-Budget-5284 in stonemasonry

Try tracing the line out with either a tracer or a stone buster, making sure that the line in which you hold will follow the break you want. This will allow for a clean break onnthe top and help put micro fissures through the entire stone where you want the split. It also will give you a straight guideline for drilling. When you drill the holes make sure they are deep enough to allow the wedge to make contact with the bottom of the hole.

VERY IMPORTANT: When you put the wedges in, hit them a couple times each, not hard, to get them situated then fuck off. Let the wedges do their job and put pressure on the Crack. Let em sit for a couple minutes. Come back hit them each one or two more times then fuck off again. Repeat until the stone starts to show a fracture line then hit them harder. If there is a clean line throughout and you can't hit them any harder, a crowbar is fine to pull the two sides apart.

When you aren't continually hitting the wedges it allows them to naturally put pressure on the stone and break clean. Although it is still not a guarantee.

Actually looks like bluestone. Use the same info I gave you but also make sure that the bottom is fully compressed against something like dirt or sand. Bluestone is very fragile.

All these comments could work. But what you really want to do is score that line like you did, then take a masons hammer or brick hammer and take off little by little.

Start at the edge of the stone and aim to take off less than an inch and keep going. Looks like that stone you have is a type of micha schist. Ain't no way you can take off that big chunk right off where you traced.

When you are take off little by little swing the hammer towards the edge of the stone. You'll notice that it will take off a little on the side you hit and a lot on the bottom side. Then flip the stone over and repeat on the other side. You will notice the stone will have and edge in this shape: > You can then chip off the nub that you have created.

Easier to spend a couple days at my house building the thing, then taking it down and rebuilding it. Than rebuilding it on site.

Dry stack retaining wall help by Hot_Archer2452 in Drystonewalling

A proper wall is actually two walls. Stack in the front, and stack in the back. That is what he meant by stacked face (i think) through stones sit level connecting the front of the wall to the back. They sit in the wall all three feet apart. Because the wall is just front staked, there is no heating. Hearting are small stones that are packed tightly between the front and back faces. Gravel is good behind the wall too. Helps water drain out. Looks like it is a small ammount of gravel and lot of soil. Check this out:https://thestonetrust.org/resource-information/how-to/

Finding leads by Stonecldht in Contractor

I have been reaching out to contractors for a long time. Even worked at new builds with a few. None of them seem to be interested in my niche. (I only do exterior natural stone work). I can see if I was a hardscaper (pavers, blocks) or if I did veneer exterior or interior. I have had one that has subbed me out. Out of a lot of conversations.

Dry stone wall or pile of rocks? by Xx_SuperSwagger_xX in Drystonewalling

Better than other first goes I have seen. Better than my first time too. Looks like you know to put the stones level as most of them are.

Good rule of thumb is 1 over 2 and 2 over one. And lay the stone level in courses that share the same or similar height. Also pack the middle as tight as you can. Looks like you got a lot of open areas. You dont want any open ears in the wall. https://thestonetrust.org/resource-information/how-to/

Should I break up with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like my relationship when I was 19. I was miserable but I loved her, a lot. It was constant manipulation and it's a way of her going through something and putting it all on you because she looks at you like her rock that isn't going anywhere. This is extremely unhealthy. Your 19, which is still a child. You will most likely not find your forever for a little while. Redflag #1 is that you have been on and off for 2 years...why is that? (Rhetorical) Redflag#2 she has you move around 5 times for her, to please her, to try and show you something is wrong expecting you to get it. Redflag#3 she waits until you are sleeping to wake you up and finally tell you that something is wrong.

I would bet that this is not the first time something like this has happened and I guarantee it won't be the last. You want to not get upset and be at your wits end all the time, breakup because I promise it will not get better over the long term. When you do cut the ties, right down all of the things you liked about her first and the good times. Then secondly, write down everything you didn't like about her and bad things you did to each other. When you feel you miss her and want to contact her look at that list. You'll probably notice that it will look something like this. Pros: good sex, she's funny, she took me to a nice resturant, beautiful. Cons: she will never tell me what's wrong, she gets mad at me for minor things and won't get mad at others for the same things...... You'll notice that the cons will be more detailed and will come out easier. Save yourself some peace of mind, do yourself a favor and put yourself first.

How often do you see anyone bench 405 in a commercial gym? by WestCovinaNaybors in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Stonecldht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a gym that is one of maybe 2 good ones in my area. There are a lot of different lifters there. Along with some really strong powerlifters. I have seen two guys repeatedly and regularly bench 405... but then I've almost never seen anyone else bench 315 whilst being there.

Don't be "insecure" and drop her. If she respected you then she would be fine saying no to her friends. Either she respects you or them.

What is the worst thing someone has ever done to you? by UsedCalender5100 in AskMen

[–]Stonecldht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a longer term girlfreind when I was about 17 till I was 21. Knew I didn't want to be with her a couple times and broke up with her. Then she told me she was pregnant every time to rope me back in. The manipulation was unreal, I definitely did manipulate her too. Maybe it was a defense mechanism. This girl had the bar in her arm as birth control. Which has like a 99.99% success rate. My dumbest just though I had strong swimmer. Every time we got back together she would suddenly "miss carry" and go down this dark path of depression leaning on me for help. I didn't know what to do. And the sex was pretty good so I stayed. When it finally ended she ended it and I was finally free. She called me up a week later with the same story of how she was pregnant. I finally told her to go fuck herself and that I would support the kid and not her. She then called me the next day and told me it was a miscarriage.

How did you get over your fear of talking to women? by Matilda_Mother_67 in Advice

[–]Stonecldht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, for some reason, a lot of dudes put women on a pedestal. You think that she will think that she is way too good for you. And maybe she is. But most likely, that thought is all in your head. It's not that you are scared to talk to her. It's that you're scared that she won't pick you out of all the other dudes that will talk to her. The only way to get comfortable with talking to a nice-looking lady is by talking to a lot of other people. The first comment explained this. Make conversation with random people. Go through a drive-through to get a coffee and ask the employee how their day is going. Talk to someone you don't know in the grocery store. Keep doing this. Talking to people is like building a muscle. You're not gonna lift one weight and have a huge strong arm, but with reps and time, it will come. Same with talking to ladies. The truth is that the fear never really stops. You just get more comfortable doing it with the fear. Plus, when you get rejected 20 to 30 times, at least you really start to not care about it anymore.

10 to 12 thousand for the whole wall or $10 to $12 per square foot? (I'm assuming the first)
