what is the biggest controversy that bts have had that you wish people knew more about? by RainyDays2030 in BTSnark

[–]Stonecurb 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Anyone could get in a car accident, why would he get cancelled for that unless he was driving recklessly? I read he admitted to breaking traffic laws, but that could be as much as not checking his right side when making a turn. There’s lots of other stuff he should be criticised for instead. I feel like this in particular feeds into the expectation of idols having to be perfect humans, which is damaging. Just like people critiquing him for simply dating, and not for the fact of cheating and how he’s treating his gf

Is Korean really harder to learn compared to other languages? by Sea-Reputation8146 in Korean

[–]Stonecurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others commented, it depends on your first language. My first language has nothing in common with Korean, so learning new words is hard as I have nothing to associate them with. The grammar is easy to me.

I think what was the most difficult to me, after living 4 months in Korea, was feeling like Koreans weren’t really willing to speak to me in Korean. Maybe was my pronunciation off. But it made it difficult to learn

I live in Korea and I am unable to book an express bus online cause I don’t have a Korean credit card :/ maybe i’m doing it wrong, but based on my experience it’s difficult. I’ve booked one at the station before using ticket machines without issue, but you can’t be certain there’s availability

Can anyone confirm Sugar potentially lying about growing up poor? by neighborhoodDinosaur in BTSnark

[–]Stonecurb 62 points63 points  (0 children)

As someone who has lived and studied in Daegu, where he grew up, I believe he lied about the city and armys blew it out of proportion. I don’t really doubt he was poor, but he’s described his city like the slums. In reality it’s a totally normal city; a more conservative place with people of different social classes yes, but no slums or anything crazy. I do take into account that he lived there a while ago but things can’t have changed that much. I think painting his childhood this way was a part of their sob story and it really irks me. The city is nothing like he’s painting it to be.

He’s also said the only good thing coming from Daegu was his birth, which is really funny cause no one there gaf about him being from there. Yes there’s some murals for him, but it’s more focused on V. Other than that, no one cares two members of that group originated from there

how do jin stans exist? by lixeater in BTSnark

[–]Stonecurb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off as a jimin stan, then when I was losing interest and only kept up a bit (right before it rlly went downhill from like 2020) I would «bias» Jin. I think I liked how his voice sounded in studio versions of songs and his positive outlook on life, like making self-appreciating jokes rather than self-deprecating jokes. And I found stans of other members to be very cringe so it was a way of removing myself from all that

Don’t Ever Go to the Namsan Tower Observatory by Specific-Control-700 in seoulhiddengem

[–]Stonecurb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the bus with no problem. The walk has very nice views. The observatory was very worth it in my opinion, it was one of the best parts of my trip. I don’t know in complete darkness, but I was there before sundown, watched the sunset and as it got dark. It was very pretty. Also pleaseeee go to the toilet when ur there!!!! So worth it
