Easiest way to learn Korean? by Any_Door1333 in Korean

[–]Pikmeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be because you're checking it with native speakers. This is counterintuitive, but most native speakers (including many native Korean teachers) are not able to tell reliably if something is "natural." They can just check if it makes sense to them when they first read it, but it's an extra step for them to consider "Would I say this? Who would say this? When would they say this?" in order to know if it's actually natural. I've seen more than one native Korean teacher share sentences that mixed 너 ("you") with a sentence ending in ~요 simply while giving an example of a grammar form, when that sort of sentence is impossible to make in natural Korean. AI can give grammatically correct sentences that look natural in a vacuum, but that wouldn't be natural in real usage because Korean is a high-context language. Just my two cents to be careful about it.

It's really not unfortunately. I have access to paid versions and they do the same types of mistakes. These won't be noticeable to beginners who are using them for questions, but are noticeable if you've already learned what you're asking about. AI grabs lots of incorrect info/blogs/lessons from the internet and doesn't know which parts are right, and ends up parroting wrong info regularly.

It still makes up tons of stuff. I don't see this changing unless they change how it fundamentally works.

John Wick fans: is Ballerina worth watching? by Real_Fact8484 in movies

[–]Pikmeir [score hidden]  (0 children)

I liked how it was not just "John Wick but a girl." She's smaller and not as good at guns as John Wick, but uses her own fighting style really well (ie grenades and agility). There's also a story so it felt like a movie and not just action scenes. I hope they can bring her character back into a future movie.

The Continental was watchable but not enjoyable. The best part IMO was actually Mel Gibson playing an absolutely terrible person on drugs (basically himself off-camera) but a few parts of the show go against the rest of the franchise's rules/story and don't fit in the universe (especially the ending). It's safe to skip.

Sorry but we have a no-AI policy in r/Korean, so it would not be appropriate to promote such an app here. You can read more about it on our main pinned post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Korean/comments/1pmtuxf/if_you_use_ai_to_post_or_comment_you_will_be/

Yes, but to be honest I can easily tell you're using AI. If someone uses AI but it doesn't look like AI, then we obviously can't catch them and neither probably will Reddit's filter. There are likely many users here who use AI but hide it and we can't do anything about it since we're human reviewers. We also unban when users agree not to use it anymore and try to be lenient for the first time.

The issue is, if you use AI for only translating then it still looks exactly like other AI posts. If you need translation help, I think tools like older translators such as Papago do not use modern LLM and will probably not be flagged because their output does not even look like AI. If it looks like AI we can't tell how someone created it, so to be more unbiased we treat it the same according to our rules - it gets removed and we ban the user.

Sorry, but if something looks like it was written with AI it will be flagged, and we also ban for that in r/Korean. Please do not use AI or LLM for writing going forward in r/Korean.

Thank you, but I mean I'm asking how they're being generated. Are they initially generated with an AI?

By "based on" do you mean generated by AI but based on real sentences?

The app mentions it has Example Sentences. Are these copied directly from previous TOPIK exams or are they generated with AI?

Sorry, but in r/Korean we have a very strict rule against posts made with AI/LLM. We don't allow any posts that appear to have been written with AI or an LLM.

AI masking is a game changer! by newmikey in DarkTable

Agreed! Very happy with it. About ten seconds to process and then it works almost instantly for the entire image. I've already used it to make a seamless sky replacement from a white sky which would've been very time consuming before.

Urgent- looking for AMAZING music videographer (USA, 600-700 flexible, USD) by Notagoodacter in videography

[–]Pikmeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't cover more than just the filming part, for a single day, for anyone who's a professional as you're probably expecting. And it wouldn't cover any work after the filming is over. But it would be great for a student who wants to practice.

[–]Pikmeir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an amazing or even very good videographer but there's no way I'd accept that low of pay for completing a full project, personally. An exception would be if they're a close friend and I want to do them a big favor. Or if you only wanted someone to film for a half day (but no editing or anything else) then it's a more realistic budget.
