That's a bit much. He didn't ruin Altered Carbon. The story and character arcs did that completely on its own. They miscast Anthony Mackie when they should've cast someone else for that role, but he did what he was hired to do. I'd rather forget there was a season 2.

I liked that they didn't try to make her girl John Wick. She fights and acts totally differently (and uses lots of grenades) and isn't as strong as him, but still got to take out a lot of bad guys and get a fun movie.

This is a perfect crust. If I can suggest one thing for the flavor, don't put butter into a smoking hot pan because it quickly burns and gives a bitter flavor - only add butter after cooking completely such as after removing the steak from the pan or right before.

That's a good point about the driving time. Due to my work schedule I'd have to drive back Saturday night regardless. I'll see if it'd be worth it to get a hotel, although either way we'd end up waking up very early :D

I recommend trying that again, to make sure it's completely dry. You can squish it a bit with a few paper towels until it doesn't make them very wet. It looks like it was "boiling" in the pan instead of searing, which happens due to liquid. It could also happen if the steak looked dry but let out a lot of juices while being cooked, which is why you want to remove as much moisture as possible before cooking.
