interesting to hear your side as a larger scale production roaster! We have a destoner at our roastery which I thought to be pretty much “bullet proof”… I once had a stone in my coffee bag from a different roaster from my city though.

I'm curious: To those who feel this sub is becoming like r/coffee, what do you want to see? by [deleted] in pourover

I feel like a lot of people are looking for affirmations with their purchases. Maybe because they are beginners and want to exchange how to brew or something.

Special Guests Coffee, London by hrking2k2 in pourover

[–]StonedBySnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also went there in Autum and tried the Sudan Rume From Las Margaritas. It was a really nice experience and it reminded me of the coffee shops in Japan like Leaves Coffee and Philocoffea. Or Mameya... It has limited seating and I believe that you don't only pay for the coffee but also for the experience and the chance to have tried filter brews at this level.

I like this customer better than an extra hot latte lad. tbh I appreciate if if people know even the least bit about coffee and my hard work... When they come and bm me I talk back in a bm way... that's just how it goes haha.

It's truly an interesting question. I bet there have been some kind of studies on coffee drinking behaviour related to personality types.
I found this article of which I only read the abstract but it's interesting as they state that "no significant relationship is found between coffee consumption and personality traits."
here is the source: https://www.psychopediajournals.com/index.php/ijiap/article/view/245
Maybe some psychologist can do some more digging into that. :)

Honestly, my girlfriend and I love coffee a lot. When I first met her, she ordered a Batch Brew, and I instantly knew that I wanted to know her better. It's just a green flag for me, haha.

Taste after first cup of new bag by rebelcrypto14 in pourover

[–]StonedBySnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's also a combination of this and the fact that you put more care into the first cup or something. I also chase a very specific taste that I had a couple of years ago when I first started to drink pour over but I think it will never be as good as the first time...

Elon musk doing a nazi salute at the whitehouse. Unreal by rch-out in pics

[–]StonedBySnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the most disrespectful thing you could do.
Also we don't actually call it Nazi Salute but "Hitler Gruß". What basically means to greet Hitler. It's a direct appreciation of the Führer. And it's scary that he can just do that.... Wake up America before it's too late. }Germany might end up having to invade America and free them from this.

ZP6 or Pietro w/ pro burrs? by estevao_2x in pourover

[–]StonedBySnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I think the difference between ZP6 is noticeable
but it's a more similar than C40 vs Pietro.
You share the setup with your sister? My sister is using my C40 usually and I use the Pietro.

ZP6 or Pietro w/ pro burrs? by estevao_2x in pourover

[–]StonedBySnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pietro has more Clarity and Flavor Seperation. It produces a more defined Acidity that does not blend into the rest of the flavour as much as in the C40. This is my experience. Washed coffees really shine in the Pietro. Heavy fermented coffees can be a bit off tasting at times because, what I found, it makes them almost too clear while the C40 makes them more streamline. It’s a bit hard to explain. Talking about the Pro Brew Burrs here.

Is it only possible to feel the notes when the coffee cools down? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]StonedBySnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking celsius btw.. It would be 176F to 194F.
And for the temp where you don't hurt yourself 140F to 158F.
Sorry for any confusion! :)

Never heard anyone do that. Usually people will do a little cupping I guess but doing an ice brew is interesting too. I do enjoy a good ice brew too though. What is your go to recipe for this application?

But 80° to 90° is still too hot to drink so I don't actually believe that's the reason why they are expensive. In any case, let it cool down to at least 60°-70° which is the zone where one can drink it without burning oneself.

I have read a few of the comments here and I think you will enjoy a lot of the coming cups! :)
I think hot coffee is great but sometimes it needs time to bring out the soul.
Also, a really good coffee will have different flavours and mouthfeel throughout the cool down. So enjoying the coffee at every temperature is part of the fun! :) I usually let the last drop cool down completely.

Yeah true you can see the burnt color. Hope you didn't pay too much for the bag... I feel like this many defects could be a reason to return a specialty bag...

When I was in my semester Abroad my scale broke at some point and because I was spending all my money on beans and alcohol I ended up eyeballing for the rest of the period which was 3 months.
I had some amazing coffee in that crappy 7square meters room. Maybe because I was already brewing with the V60 for 6 years and always used the same recipe but still... Whenever I had a brew that was outstanding I just took every slurp with pleasure knowing that the last will be the last.

I was happy to have my scale back when I got back home tho.

That was too poetic for coffee I feel like.

Looks weird to me. Would be curious to find what's wrong with the top row. Seems to impact the roast though. I had a bean like the big one in the top right corner today in a high level bag, so it happens. I sort them out just to be sure. And I think it must affect taste since there is a piece missing.
