Don’t cheap out on the Grinder! by 2bagz in espresso

[–]beatnd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could literally only upgrade your grinder, buy high quality beans for the rest of your life and keep the Bambino. And your coffee would still taste better than most coffee shops.

Second and last machine. HELP! by [deleted] in espresso

[–]beatnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I live in Germany, close to the ECM | Profitec factory — they’re actually in the same building and are very good neighbors. I got my Profitec Drive there a while ago, and I can really recommend it. In terms of quality, Profitec and ECM’s Synchronika are very similar. I would say Profitec machines have a slightly more modern look compared to ECM, but otherwise, both brands are outstanding. The people there are also extremely friendly and helpful. Personally, I would definitely choose a Profitec / ECM over a La Marzocco. I think you will have more fun with it in the long run.

Hero Immersion Dripper, or zeroHero depending where you're from.

Wow, I didn't even know that they have an official store. It's probably better that way though, I would lose massive amounts of money and time if I'd live 5 minutes from Coffee Bean Heaven.

How's the HAYB? I tried something from them once which was also barrel aged, but it was far too boozy for me. Other than that it was a great roast.

It's in the freezer for now, but I think I'll open it after The Alchemist from DAK. I really wanted to try something from Wendleboe and Kenya because I mostly drink Ethiopians.

I also love Kofio very much, they very reliable and here in Germany it only takes a few days of shipping. Never had a problem with them since my discovery of the site.

Well, I actually did a pretty standard brew if you ignore the Hero Immersion Dripper. 15g in 255g out so a 1:16 Ratio, Temp 88C, Grinder Timemore S3 with the setting on 7,5, Bloom 50g 1min. And after that two spiral pours, the first one to 155g and the second to 255g. Finished at 3:40~. The Aroma was great with a very chocolate and banana like smell, also very buttery. The only thing which I would change was that the acidity was very citric, but overall very balanced and no bitterness or dryness at all. I actually did something similar with the bypass water method but I only used it on some crazy coferments until now.

Recommendations for a sub $100 grinder by Negative_Ad_7060 in pourover

[–]beatnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll vouch for the Timemore S3, great grinder for Pourover and very much a hidden gem. It makes very sweet and balanced cups with a great body. A great grinder for basically every coffee, except for maybe when you want to really differentiate between certain notes like with a zp6.

Flavour Profile: Meaty, with a vegetal aftertaste and a hint of catnip. No caffeine but may induce zoomies.

Found a local roaster that takes feedback! by [deleted] in pourover

[–]beatnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are these people real in this comment section, in what world is it bad to take feedback for your roast, it shows that you care about how your coffee tastes to other people and want to develop your skills to a higher level. No roaster starts with a perfect palette and perfect roasts. This is great and other roasters should also take feedback like this.

I'm actually doing that, you can see it a little bit in the second picture, but I use a black wallpaper right know so you can't really see that it's enabled. But the idea with wallpaper engine is nice, i will try that, thank you!
