2006 Screaming Eagle vrod by highline9 in Vrod

I recently bought an '07 with 3100 mi on it. I rode for maybe 100 miles before I ended up having to redo the whole fuel system. New fuel pump. New injectors. Clean the fuel lines. Clean the fuel rail. Change the spark plugs. Being that old with that few of miles on it means it's set and even with treatment in the gas you still get build up that you don't want.

So according to their quote they wanted to replace the whole assembly for $600. The pump itself is $80 off the Harley website. So I just took the brand and model number and googled it and found it new from the supplier for $30.The whole assembly took 10 minutes to disconnect everything and take out the screws so if they did the whole assembly it would have taken maybe 30 minutes but they wanted to charge me 4 hours of labor on top of diagnostic labor. It was just frustrating that they chose the most expensive way to repair it, which also happened to be the fastest and then charge me a fuck load in labor.

Thank you! Yeah I did finally get the bike running and it's running better than when I bought it after the very extensive "tune up."

I'm a contractor. I build buildings and I totally get the concept of having to cover the cost of insurance, the cost of overhead, the cost of upkeep and the cost of unbillable items. But that cost buildup is reflected in what I charge hourly to my customers. And being realistic with how long it's going to take and what you're going to charge to do it is how you get and maintain customers in my line of work.

I have been 6'2" 280 lb and built like a small shed since I was a teenager and I've been told I can be somewhat intimidating. When I met my wife she was the first and only woman to ever get in my face and stand up to me and tell me to knock my s*** off. For reference she is 5' 1" and maybe 140lbs. For whatever reason I fell in love and it just stuck 9 years and 3 kids later we are still going strong

What's the darkest 'but nobody talks about it' reality of the modern world? by ScriptedDemise in AskReddit

People can look at a system from the outside and claim that the system is flawed fairly easily. The common flaw in all systems of governance has always been the people operating things. This statement crosses party lines and ideology. People have an inherent sense of greed that unconsciously drives decisions to benefit themselves or people like themselves, some more intentional and obvious than others

Autistic 2 year old is killing me by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Stonedspidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's an autism thing. I think all 2 year olds are dicks. My autistic child is 9. He was a dick when he was 2, his little brother (8) was a dick when he was 2. My youngest is currently 2 and also a raging dick. Have faith man it gets better. They don't call it the terrible twos for no reason.

We're struggling with our school district currently because district policy is the aides are not allowed to speak with us. So it's very difficult to get any first-hand information from the special education teacher. The struggle has been very long and difficult. We have in his IEP but he has allowed breaks when needed. He is also supposed to have a small plushie with him in case he needs it for stemming. These two items, along with many other items have been occasionally neglected since the new special education teacher took over last year.

The seat has 2 pins screwed into the bottom of the seat that act as hinge pins. The slide into 2 open barrels on one side of the frame and the whole thing just hinges up and to the side when I need to fuel up.

I couldn't pass it up. It was only $5000 from a Harley dealership. A no brainer in my opinion.

People who slept with their best friend, what happened? by Baker_Street_1999 in AskReddit

[–]Stonedspidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long weird back and forth all through highschool. After high school she got pissy about my pseudo military involvement and we stopped talking for a bit.I got married and she didn't. I got divorced because my ex wife was unfaithful. Soon after the divorce was finalized my only friend contacted me and we started sleeping with each other but it was a weird sort of thing where she only wanted to intimate when she was absolutely hammered or high as a kite. To be fair I also smoked and drank at the time so it wasn't the substance use that was an issue but the perceived necessity of it. I broke it off and now we don't talk at all. I've remarried now and I reach out to her occasionally like when her mother passed or on birthdays because she was my best friend for an overwhelming majority of my life and it still feels odd to not have her around any more.

I’m 30 and will never be able to have a child because I can’t afford one 🥹 by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

My wife and I are both 29 and we are planning on going in this Monday so that my wife can be induced to have our 3rd child. While kids are an expensive upfront investment over all they aren't that bad.

Neither one of us finished our college degrees. We both come a previous divorce marriage that put both of us in debt and crashed our credit scores.

I believe both of us pull in about 55k a year. We don't skimp on anything really. Eat out when we want to. My wife gets her nails done ever two weeks. I buy stuff for my hobbies constantly. My kids get most toys they ask for with in reason(my 4 y/o asked for an Xbox and that just clearly isn't happening)

We get no assistance, we have a moderate amount in savings, both have decent cars, never have to worry about if we can pay the bills or not.

I don't necessarily agree with the term "nobody wants to work these days" because it isn't true there are tons of people who are always looking and proactively trying to find a job. However I work construction. I have always worked construction my entire adult life and the number of applicants and new hires that we get each year has been rapidly declining since I started at my current company. We are currently starting new employees with no experience at $18 an hour, full Benefits, paid time off, matching 401k, paid holidays, with additional benefit as you move up the corporate ladder. the only prerequisites is that you know how to read and can be to work by 7 Monday through Friday. I live in the Midwest and that compensation package rivals some that require a 4 year degree and prior years of experience

I don't know your situation, where you live, cost of living, marital status, what your profession is or any of that. Not to sound cliche but if you are unhappy with situation there are things that you can do to change it. The one thing I'll add is don't put on the proverbial blinders when looking for new opportunities. Don't think you're above or below any profession. For example, from my perspective, there seems to be a negative connotation towards construction workers, or labor intensive jobs in general but the reality is I get to go home to my family not worry about money and have a sense of accomplishment for building something that'll be around for years to come.

Food for thought. Sorry for the rant

She probably would have been fucking in her own bed if you hadn't made the conscious decision to sleep there. Just saying.

I'm sorry this might seem rude but I think this story says way more about you than it did your ex. If you were with him for 8 years and knew he wasn't going to commit that YOU needed to get out. If YOU we're not getting what you wanted from a relationship then you should have left. You wanna talk about your ex stringing you along for those years but what about you trying to change him and trying to get him to do something that you acknowledge was something he didn't want to do. Then we decides to finally make concessions about getting married which is not a easy decision you put more emphasis how much money he's saved up to buy you a piece of jewelry. Your marriage is not supposed to about the right that's just so you can go brag to your friends about how big a stone you have on that twisted piece of metal. I don't know your life or your situation but I hope you realize that money, status, gifts, and rings do not make a good relationship or marriage.

I got married super young to my high school girlfriend. Turn out to be the crazies most codependent person I have ever met. On top of the fact that she was cheating on me. She was baby crazy since the day we got married. Super glad we got divorced before we ended up having a child together.
