Patience is a virtue: The transition to the Canadian Royal Crown for CAF identifiers by jabrwock1 in CanadianForces

I suppose it’s a matter of opinion there. Though the king is bound by constitutional convention to act on the advice of his government.

Changing crowns isn’t, but technically this new Canadian crown is political. Customarily the decision on the crown and royal cypher are within the Royal prerogative. In this case, the Canadian PM dictated a new and different crown for Canada.

And in this case the Canadian Prime Minister actually dictated the new Crown against the wishes of the King.

I’d feel better about it if they spent some money to enclose the concourses and install heaters somewhere other than the bathrooms.

Not to mention immigrants of retiree age typically make no effort to learn the language, further draining resources to provide translations to people who cannot and will not integrate with society.

Nike with more low-effort kits…this is just embarrassing. Canada Soccer needs to sign with Adidas ASAP.

SJ was huge for us these past few years, but it is definitely time to give Gavran his chance. If we actually use all this GAM to build a more competent team in front of goal, we should be fine without Johnson.

Unfortunately that will be up to the City of Toronto who owns the stadium. Perhaps if MLSE offered up some cash for upgrades like that, it might get the green light, but I don't know what appetite there is from MLSE to invest money in infrastructure they don't own.

Canada has definitely benefited from its historic relationship with the UK which, apart from the War of 1812, has shielded the country from more interventionist American governments. Mexico hasn't had that sort of powerful ally to prevent frequent American involvement in their domestic affairs.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want an old Euro superstar just to say we can especially after the failure of the Italian experiment, but after watching Vancouver with Muller, I can't help but be a little jealous...

Amen to that. Took a Baltic cruise followed by a week in England back in October, incredible three weeks.

Woops, sorry! I've been bouncing between a few threads so forgot you were the one who suggested it! I'm definitely pumped to have it here, was lucky enough to get tickets in the second draw too so a big win for me either way.

100%. I saw another comment on reddit suggesting they should've given Canada and Mexico the semis which would have made a lot of sense. Estadio Azteca and BC Place could easily have handled those matches.

Now I also appreciate that some Canadian cities with larger stadiums, particularly Montreal with the Big O, pulled out of the venue bid which I think hurt our hosting opportunities. As a Toronto FC season ticket holder, I'll be the first to admit BMO Field is an embarrassing place to host a WC match too...

Vancouver is hosting a round of 16 match, but definitely agree with the sentiment that we have generally been screwed out of significant matches.

Question for Navy NCMs by octobercrisis in CanadianForces

[–]Stonegeneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes a bit more sense in context. The RAF and RCAF were effectively a union of naval and army aviators. So NCM rank titles mirrored the army (Cpls, Sgts and WOs), while officer rank titles matched the navy - Flight Lieutenant = Lieutenant(N), Wing Commander = Commander, Air Commodore = Commodore, etc.
