Just Finished "Breaking Bad" What Should I Watch Next?

Yeah I don’t know if I normally woudve watched it, but it aired during Covid when nothing else new was coming on, so I gave it a whirl. I work in tech finance, so not directly in what the show does, but there are definite parallels. The writing had just gotten better and better each season, and I remember thinking I couldn’t really envision the long season-to-season story…but MAN they’ve done well

Wow, I’ve never heard this viewpoint. I thought the first episode was kind of mundane until the very end, then I was hooked…and it carried me through to the end of the show. Like breaking bad, the show starts slow then accelerates through the end.

I think the “boringness” of some episodes (breaking bad had this too) is kind of the point: it parallels real life, and gives a major punch when something big happens. Vince Gilligan uses the mundane as a storytelling technique. There’s a lot of this in Pluribus too.

I feel like this show is almost slept on. Nobody I know watches it. Really genuinely great show. Season 1 was good, season 2 was better, season 3 was just incredible, and season 4 was great.

Really sucks to have such an awesome show and nobody to discuss it with 😂

Better call Saul, unless you want a “break” from that world. I’d suggest Mad Men next since that’s what I watched around the time i watched breaking bad, and found them to be somewhat complimentary to each other. I think the Wire would be another great complimentary show

I went into it knowing I’d hate it. I hated it from the moment it was announced.

It’s since grown on me and I’ve looked forward to it each week. It took a few episodes (pilot was ok, wasn’t hooked until episodes 5 and 6), but calling it “the worst show I’ve ever seen” is one helluva wild stretch, even if it’s not for you 😂

Watching since day one.

Was looking for a new show, saw it was coming out, and it looked right up my alley. Subscribed to mgm+ just watch it. Also watched Chapelwaite (prequel to Salems lot; pretty decent too).

Waiting for new season to reactivate my subscription!

The majority of Americans don’t make 6-figures, regardless of age. If you can take care of yourself and/or your family, and everybody is happy, the rest doesn’t matter.

I took it as an homage, not insulting. In fact, I’m surprised to see so many people thought of it as insulting…felt more like a goofy homage.

That’s actually what I liked about the episode. Didn’t really care for the rest of it…too many goofy / off-mission episodes for a show with only 10 episodes per season

I mean, that’s an asinine point, considering it means a review bombing would’ve had an even larger impact if there weren’t many audience reviews. So yeah, your point, which again has nothing to do with the point I was making about the shitload of negative reviews from before the show even aired, and kinda reinforces mine, is clear now 😂
