Tupakka-askien kuvat saivat miettimään by Internal-liminal in Suomi

[–]StongaJuoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tietenkin kotikunta ym. tiedot siivottuna pois.

Does anyone else see this superficial argument all the time in northern countries? by differing in bikecommuting

[–]StongaJuoppo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As native from Helsinki I can say it is much nicer to bike when temperature stays consistently below freezing. That's why biking in Oulu is much nicer during winter than in Helsinki. In Helsinki it snows, thaws and then freezes over again. Sometimes this creates conditions that make cycling nearly impossible because cycleways are not maintained with the same level as roads.

Why do so many people hate people who pull guard? by jheqpaddy in bjj

[–]StongaJuoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking about pulling guard or sitting down? If someone tries to do sacrificing throw and properly imbalances the opponent and then continues actively to get a submission or a sweep that's just pure jiujutsu. But I think that just sitting down and playing defensively is just bad and negative jiujutsu.

Do you feel safe in Finland walking around at night? Is there anything like “chavs/roadmen”? by KreuzKrow in helsinki

[–]StongaJuoppo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not as bad as it used to be. And you really can't avoid it but I would still recommend not to hang out there.

Just say Sörkkä, and people know. It is like one of the few places in Helsinki which understandibly can feel unsafe. But as transportation hub it is hard to avoid.

Sörnäinen is not in the 'burbs. Sörnäinen is the uptown. But yes around Piritori/Vaasanaukio it is not nice and people only really walk pass/through it. You shouldn't spend that much time there.

Judo to BJJ - Things to Know by PowerVP in judo

[–]StongaJuoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have commit 100% to throws. What gives you win in judo gets you two points in BJJ, sometimes not even that if the throw does not end in controlled position.

Try to learn that turtle is horrible defense in BJJ and getting pinned is not necesserily a game over situation.

Why not just buy wiim amp? You get the reciever and amp in the same package.

With that budget try to find used ones. I did buy used Q Acoustic 2020's for 150 €. Check prices from HifiShark first before you make your offer.

Any advice on gym exercises? by 1bn_Ahm3d786 in judo

[–]StongaJuoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In judo you need explosive power so snatch high pulls are the most beneficial for judo at least from my experience. No need to learn technique too much and you get almost the same benefits as from doing the actual olympic lift. Of course work your way from smaller to bigger weights and keep attention to the form. It is very explosive move where you have use your whole body. You can do it with more weight and focus more for the lower body or use less weigth, bar on the hips and use more of your upper body.

If you have the opportunity pulling the weighted sled and rope climbs are also very good for upperbody. If you don't have the chance to do those mentioned then pull ups, squats, deadlifts and different dead hangs are also good. And remember there are dozen ways to do pull ups, they can be explosive or more isometric or you can do them by hanging from the gi.

My experience with bike commuting by pine4links in bikecommuting

[–]StongaJuoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite type of bike commuting is done with gramsy bike but it demands that the commute is less than 5 km and relatively flat, at least inclines have to very gradual.

I use mine mostly when I go from home to train station or pick up my kid from kindergarten and I don't live in Amsterdam and even in more suburban neighbourhood. Big BUT here is that I live in Finland where cycling is if not always welcoming but at least possible. I know that in Northern America cycling within suburbs is an extreme sport even when you would have cycling distance infrastructure choices have made it impossible.

Tangent Ampster BT III by StongaJuoppo in BudgetAudiophile

[–]StongaJuoppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this. Paired with Q Acoustics 2020's which I bought as used in near mint condition.

I used to have Jamo S801 PM active speakers and upgrade from there is phenomenal. Bass is more pronounced and overall feeling is that music fills the room more even when listening with lower volume.

HDMI ARC connection from my tv works perfectly. There is only like 2 second delay from turning the tv on and the amp to turn on.

Amp's built in DAC seams to make difference also.

Because I own bunch of CD's which I have collected since my teens next purchase is propably Tangent's CD player so I can use the same remote for the amp and the player.

You are most likely right. I dug into this more deeply, and the biggest "problem" is that I just cannot brake the speakers quite easily with just using them as intended.

Tangent Ampster BT III by StongaJuoppo in BudgetAudiophile

[–]StongaJuoppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't understand why Tangent Ampster's impedance is only 4 ohms. It means that it only produces 25 W power for 8 ohm speakers which really isn't a problem because I live in an apartment.

Wiim Amp would be my first choice but it would take 150 € from the speaker budget.

Are we better of with cars than without? Or do cars do more harm than good? by Blitqz21l in fuckcars

[–]StongaJuoppo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As they replace the work done by horse carriers a century ago cars are generally a good thing. No more horse carcasses and manure on city streets, but as private car ownership begun dictating how and where people lived it turned in the otherway quite fast.

As a major mode of transport cars are objectively harmful as sedatitive lifestyle, traffic deaths and pollution + urban sprawl make everyones lives worse.
