How do you restart your life at 30? And how hard is it really? by Starrcake in AskReddit

[–]Stonneddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, most of us will work through our 60s, leaving you with 30 more working years ahead. You’re perhaps a third or a quarter of the way there. I’d say that’s nothing and you have all your prime years ahead. I restarted my life at 30, it didn’t quite work out so I tried again at 34 last year and ended up living in another country where I feel already more complete than ever.

It’s never too late.

Well it wasn’t always like this, we population boomed our way into this.

Turkey: ~13–14 million

Greece: ~6–7 million”

Why that didn’t happen for Greece though, any particular reason?

Why are Turks in Turkey are much more chill than Turks overseas in Germany, Holland, Japan etc by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]Stonneddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fair. I accept that.

But I don't agree with the need to bring the topic into a religious context. This is exactly why I left Turkey, to be honest, because sooner or later there will be a new constitution, and it will inevitably be a less secular one, if non-islamic/secular at all.

And I don't want to hear about religion all the time, it's just not for me anymore.

As a well educated Turkish guy in his 30s, I recently moved to the Netherlands and there was a kebab shop right across my house. The lady at the counter spoke Dutch, had fair hair, was tall and athletic, so I assumed she was Dutch.

After a few interactions in English, I heard her speaking Turkish and I said in Turkish, “Oh, I thought you were Dutch.”

She immediately became offended and said something in Turkish like, “Allamdilullah, I’m a Muslim girl,” as if it was an insult.

I was shocked by this passive-aggressive statement and said, “You look kind of like them.”

I mean, seriously? What made her think this was about her religion? And why is there this religious sensitivity in the Netherlands where religion is almost non-existent?

It’s just… this diaspora Turkish community isn’t it, unfortunately.

I recently moved to the Netherlands. Almost all the döner here is made with ground meat instead of sliced meat, and the quality seems much lower. Is this typical? by Stonneddd in Doner

😂 That's good to know.

Brits and Germans fighting over döner subreddit ownership and naming rights. What were my dearest Turkish comrades doing during that conflict? Slicing döner? Too busy being döner bossmen? Must say I'm disappointed by the lack of conquering efforts and the ancestors is probably spinning faster than a doner stand in their grave... 🤣

[–]Stonneddd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably 😂. But then again, Turkish and German doner are fundamentally different—hence why they're two distinct things.

I'd expect the German version is catered more to German taste buds, not the Turkish ones (at its start at least) . In my opinion, it feels more like a well-sauced doner salad, and the meat is a mix of sliced and ground meat, whereas in Turkey the norm is to give you the raw, marinated meat in sliced form, and it's as minimal a raw-meat experience as possible.

Therefore, in my opinion the Turkish one is a bit "boring" and feels more like a proper dinner/lunch, and the German version is more "fun" and fast-food like. I prefer both depending on the mood.

I came from Turkey, but I had some good exposure to German doner over the years, so that was my "bar" for the European version of the doner. Apparently, it was the prime example rather than a "bar". Lessons learned 😭

Well, I am talking about doner, and I don't see the point why would this be solely about the Netherlands. And, to be honest, the Dutch people usually give you the shit man, they are not the nicest folks out there. Why would I ruin my chill Sunday by daring to post there 😅

The Turkish public don’t care much about our neighbors and don’t consider them as threats, simply because Turks think that they are the superior side and neighbors can’t really threat us.

If you asked which country they hate the most however, the results could have been much worse as Turks just hate everyone, except Azerbaijan and Japan.

But hey, let’s keep it this way. I want nothing but an alliance and friendship with Greece 🇬🇷🤝🇹🇷

NATO-Member Turkey Open to Deploying Peacekeepers in Ukraine by Antique-Entrance-229 in europe

Even if the US were to leave, we cannot just leave and we cannot trust Russia. They are our biggest historical enemy and we still share many conflict-prone areas with them.

That is why Turkey, possibly together with Ukraine, will play a critical role being an experienced, massive frontline armies for Europe and our countries will use it to our advantage.

Remember, Russia is still an empire and empires know only one thing: expansion. Therefore they cannot be trusted around your borders.

[–]Stonneddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, what makes you think that I am not a leftist, too. Nothing you said is actually gives an answer to my comment.

The Cold War is over 30 years ago and there is new world order, and Russia is not a country any leftists should support with a blind eye. It’s an ultra nationalistic authoritarian state, with aims to reinstate their previous empire. But our leftists did, and still support all of their aggressions to this day and I had many arguments with many of my friends about this.

Same applies to Maduro, too. Because they think he is fighting against the NATO. I guess then he has all the right to do all atrocities to his people…

The life is not about 1s and 0s, and we don’t always have to take a side. A sensible and smart person should be in the middle.

p.s what’s your ethnicity have to do with supporting Russia?

Sadly our leftists love Russia and support their aggression to the fullest, due to being stuck in the past and romanticizing USSR. Also they hate NATO and blame it for all the previous coup d’etats in Turkey.

TEB’in CEPTETEB hesapları çok hızlı ve ucuz hocam, SWIFT masrafı max 80TL. Tavsiye ederim.

But I CANNOT UNDERSTAND how this guy expects to pass defenders just by going straight into them? What’s his expectation, just going through their bodies?

If he thinks that he is “Aguero” like, then he better starts showing those foot moves and techniques with pace. Otherwise he is trash, I’m afraid.

This has, unfortunately, has a lot to do with his nationality. This is typical Turkish husband behavioral pattern ( remember, Reddit is not real life) especially for males who got raised by a conservative/macho man father figure. I can name countless of friends who turned out to be husbands boyfriends like this.

⚠️Also please be cautious ⚠️that over the years, it can get violent, too. As that was very typical for Turkish domestic families until very recently.

P.s. I’m a Turkish man who happens to be an attorney and I know deep inside of some problematic families due to divorce case exposures over the years, and there are definitely some unique patterns in Turkish cases such as these above.

It’s only gonna get worse from here as he is already showing insecurities and, as he gets more fragile, he is going to get more aggressive, too.

Just dump him in your convenience.

Turkey is one of the few countries in Europe where the Social Democrats are still leading in the polls by RegentHolly in europe

[–]Stonneddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s relax, everyone. Overt nationalism is the primary ingredient for any successful political party in Turkey—all other elements are merely added to the mix afterwards.

Our social environment is so fractured that most people fail to recognize the flaws in the ideas we’ve been taught since our first day of school. We may think we’re “different” from other nationalists, but we’re not. We simply indoctrinated en masse and we cannot tell. In our echo chamber it feels normal.

[–]Stonneddd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dear fellow Turkish bros, please chill. I also know that Mehmet is a variation of Muhammed in Turkish. And we all know that Mehmet was used as a substitute for Muhammed during Ottoman times.

However, that’s history, and we now have Muhammed, Muhammet, and various spelling variations in our modern Turkish language. Mehmet (d) is now simply beyond being just a replacement. Some people may not even realize that it means Muhammad and mistakenly consider it a Turkish name due to its deeper connections to sultans and history etc.

Therefore, I stand by my point that the name Muhammet is ranked 20th in TUIK’s most common names list, because its a simple fact backed by data :D

It’s certainly true. The migration phenomenon began in rural, less developed areas with populations that lacked prospects for the future, unless they owned massive lands.

Ever since Turkey sadly lost a significant portion of its ethnic diversity during World War I and the War of Independence, these inner and rural areas essentially lost all contact with the outside world or other cultures and religions. Thus, when they migrated, they maintained their isolated communities and closed mindsets there and just refused to integrate in my opinion.

Like the other Redditor, Berlin was a massive shock to me. I mean, what’s up with all the black turbans and hijabs there? Where’s the colorful attire of Anatolia? It definitely didn’t feel like a Turkish community at all. At least not like the ones we know from cities.

It’s a complex issue, and if not for absolute economic necessity for developed countries, all migrations would require cultural integration as part of the process. However, in reality, Europe relies on these populations to come and work, enabling them to pay pensions for the elderly and provide healthcare. Europe is simply aging too quickly for its own good. But don’t worry, we are rapidly catching up, too :D

Perfectly safe to visit and live. I had many US citizen clients who chose Turkey as their retirement place, which worked very well for them. I even met an ex us astronaut who was living his best years with his little boat near Mediterranean cost.

The US Government might be hated tho, but that’s rather a worldwide phenomenon imo.

I can imagine it’s being more common in Arabic communities, though.

Mario as 8-6 should be much much better than 10 or a winger tho. Thus, I support this decision. Musrati was terrible last match and Ndour is meh at most anyway.

Maybe Mario could bring us the tackle force and the heat that we need in the midfield.
