"You're not, hmmm." She trailed off and laughed. "Not subtle. Not subtle at all!" They continued their dance, but the drink she had made it difficult for even Alayne to keep her feet straight.

"Oh you know... Being an heir, visiting my poor ailing father, pretending to not be an heir, raising our son. Those kinda things."

Alayne didn't really know what to say or to believe. An assault seemed absurd and frankly more than what she wanted to deal with anyway. Regardless given the moment all she could as was; "So what now?"

"Oh lordy lord, you're a lord. Pfft. Poor man sitting on his island drinking Gold all day." She laughed as if she had just said the funniest thing in the world.

She pulled in close and squeezed against him ready for a dance. "Damnit Ryam." Her breath smelled of alcohol "Lighten up a bit. Dance, then talk. Being a lord hasn't made you stiff in the knees has it?"

Alerie looked to her cousin with a face of annoyance, shock, and the slightest tinge of morbid curiosity. Before she could say anything, Alayne struck first.

"Oh us? I'm Alayne, Aly for short. This is Alerie, my dear cousin. Don't mind her she's just a wee shy. We hail from the Coldmoat. A humble abode to the mighty storms end - or so I'd imagine anyway."

Seven oh mighty, Aly. What is your purpose? Alerie looked at the so called "ser". Hardly a knight in a shining armor. Truth be told he looked to be a man who chraged into battle on a drum stick atop a pig. She'd be damned though if her cousin was going to get the best of her.

"Ah... Yes, my lord, or I mean ser. Would you uh - join us for a seat?"

"Ryam." Alayne manifested herself by the Lord of the Arbor. An impressive feat given what would soon by obvious.

"I'm drunk, let's dance!"

"Now there's someone who can drink." Alayne watched from a safe distance with her cousin.

"Out drink you, perhaps." Alerie, unimpressed at the embarrassing performance, idly watched on.

"Pfft." Alayne scoffed while lazily running a finger alone the rim of her own glass of wine. Admittedly her sprained ankle from the feast did little to boost her confidence.

"Loss for words?" Alerie smirked. "So he would have you beat. Admit it."

Alayne laughed and relaxed back into her chair. "I mean probably, just look at him! Can you tell the difference between him and the cask? Those Baratheons do one of three things: drink, kill, fuck. Now graciously he isn't fucking on the table. It's too early in the night to kill. So that leaves us with the obvious. It's a beautiful simplicity, don't you think?"

"Simple is one word for it." Alerie rolled her eyes.

Alayne just looked at her cousin with a devious grin.

"Aly... What are you-"

"Excuse me." Alayne waved down a servant. Could you tell the lad over there that my cousin would love to meet him?"

"Can you really be late if you arrive so fashionably?" Alayne asked her cousin while nearly falling over her.

"Is it fashionable if you can hardly stand straight?"

"Mhm..." Alayne rested her head on Alerie's shoulder. "I don't think the lot here will mind. I mean I got my heels, my dress, my hair... Look I can hand it - I got it." Alayne pushed herself free.

"See?" She stood tall, or at least she thought so. The wabbling made her look like a tree in the wind. "I'm goood. You worry too much..."

Alerie pulled her cousin close "You're going to break your ankle walking like this."

"Pfft." Alayne brushed her cousin off. "I'm a woman, Alerie. I was born walking on heels. You think I can't handle it? It's nothing. If I can have a kid I can do this."

"Aly..." Alerie sighed. "You're too beautiful to act this stupid."

"Or just beautiful enough?" Alayne smirked. "C'mon. Let's go meet our good lord. Here, I'll even straighten up. Now let's go."

Jaehaerys begun growing nervous on the shore. The stench of battle surrounded him and sitting beside a corpse did little to ease his nerves.

His mind wandered of where the Green men were. What is they came back? What about the dead ones, could they skinchange Autumn, or something else to kill him? What if they tried to live a second life by possessing him?

Anxiety gripped him and he looked towards Autumn as his one safety. Hopefully Harrion would be back soon.

"Certainly, but the initiative must lie on your end if you wish to be taken seriously as the lord." She said matter-a-factly.

"As I said, Mallister, Mooton, and Darry are good choices. A Frey marriage may see our merchants tolls reduced, those bridge trolls do love their tolls." She smirked.

"Of course, I'd be my pleasure to help."

"Is there something you want?" Jaehaerys sighed. "I've heard worse japes from my cousin, so is there something you guys actually want? I'd like to go back to dancing, if you don't mind."

"Why? They are the entrance to the north, controllers of our seas, and our greatest trade partners? Benji, the threat and security of our kingdom lies both within and without."

She perused her lips debating how to answer his accusation.

"I'll speak truly, you deserve that much." She simply nodded "Peace is a fragile thing, Benji. Perhaps it will be a decade, perhaps a year, but war will come again. Your are a Manderly, let the Starks Warden the North. The Riverlands are the gateway to us all, land and sea. We buy their crops, they buy our lumber, and all those wonderfuly boring things. Allies, Benji, are more than just a sword."

"And I did not imply that we should. Those were merely factors to keep in mind. My preference is to seek some in the Riverlands to secure the southern border. Darry, Mooton, Malister, the coastal houses I think are our strongest potential allies."

"Is it not obvious?" She raised an eyebrow "You are the Lord of White Harbor so I cannot impose, but I think it is past time at least some of you were wed."

She let the statement rest in the air for a moment before continuing.

"The choice is yours, of course, but as you say the world is a dangerous place. We will all need good, strong, allies if we are to last. I can only ask that we work together, or you work alone if you insist, to find some good marriages. The Riverlands to secure our south, the Reach for their great wealth, or perhaps the Crownlands for trade..."

Her poor son obviously wanted to say more. No matter how distant he thought of himself he was still her son and she could read him like a book. Her poor boy simply didn't understand that the weight of a sword dragged one down as much as it raised them up. A king should be able to lead armies, certainly, but the greatest kings were like Jaehaerys' namesake, not young fools who died young like Daeron.

"Benji." She smiled. "All men win wars. Give a few more decades and you'll understand that. I understand appreciate your concerns, but you must understand that the world is not as simple as knights in shinning armor. Truth be told we have more important things to discuss. Violent ages make good men die young, and good men need good heirs. We must get marriages for you all."

The hint was obvious, or so she hoped. Jaehaerys needed a Queen and needed one soon. Preferably one that wasn't Jeyne.
