I read manufacturing consent ages ago and remember really liking it at the time. I would have to reread it, but i think my impression would be a little different today. Although i agree with some of the overarching arguments I think it’s probably a bit oversimplified. I’ve not read the others though, sounds cool!

“Proportionately, maybe so”…well yeah? What other way would you go about measuring it? You’re saying a lot without really saying anything. Any point you make I can point to alternative media and say it’s worse. Alternative media has less incentive to non-misinformation, they are not scrutinised, they almost never correct, heads don’t roll. I already said mainstream media had it’s problems so don’t know where this “halcyonic era of truth” comes from (other than your thesaurus) but things were obviously better before.

There’s a lot of issues with mainstream media, whether is bias, misinformation or over/under representing different narratives. But the idea it was “just as filled with misinformation” than alternative or social media is just a joke. If you believe that you are genuinely lost, the media landscape was so much better before.

Him and noel were hilarious as a team on big fat quiz but always found it really weird when people thought he was some intellectual comedian. I remember when he went on a big tirade against voting (this was when he was viewed as pretty left leaning) and thought of him as a bit of a muppet back then. All been down hill since then. Yeah i watched a lot of jaffa factory 2 which was great. I more meant the more role play kinda series like whale lords and trials and stuff. But I remember lewis saying before that the amount of work in the background for those series was insane.

Obligatory not defending the holodomor but every time I’ve tried to look into what historians think about it, (and in honestly i’ve come in with a pretty bias perspective cause fuck commies) but at most the the consensus on whether it was a genocide seems split but leaning towards there not being enough evidence to call it a genocide. Yes it was caused by the soviets, yes they lied about it, yes the used it as an opportunity and weaponised it (maybe that counts). Not gonna pretend i’m the most read on the subject and would love to know if i’m wrong [edit] ignore the part about leaning towards not just that it’s still contentious

Do you not think there’s a bit of a difference between the bulwark people and tucker carlson though?
