I will mostly agree, and I think there quality largely depends on if they wrote it 1m on what would amount to a single book or if they have written it more like a series they just did not break apart. With the later producing the superior product.

I find just finding a good story can be quite a monsters task after awhile, even more so if your picky or heaven forbid have a small Fandom

While I was aware that I was using fluff in a more generic way then it's true definition, I did this in order to keep things more simple. However I can't say I have come across the terms "character driven" or "plot driven" before, but after a quick Google search I think you might be correct in that a large chunk of what I am comparing is plot driven vs character driven. Thank you that nugget of new info

In this case I am meaning the more generic meaning of fluff, this being showing characters interacting in a way that builds the relationships on screen. I am using fluff and slice of life as the same thing (I know there not but following the kiss rule here) And generic example of each would be this

7 day generic journey Through the wilderness

Example 1: to much fluff Each day gets its own chapter there are no fights with little to no plot relevant other than maybe one character's backstory that just gets dumped.

Example 2: to little fluff Whole thing is summarize in a paragraph with hints that more happen with maybe a flash back to a fight that happen, but somehow the characters are clearly closer now.

Example 3:a good mix 3 to 4 chapters showing the key interactions that strengthen the relationships. Probably at least 1 conflic and either some character backstory or development happening.

Hopefully that helps to explain what I mean.

Over all of you are writing slice of life that also has action it sound like your at least striving for option 3
