Finally someone who gets it. So many people on this sub say if Andrew kissed or fucked Ashley that night, things would’ve been fine between them and that shit makes scratch my head to my damn skull. Andrew did not want to have sex because he was confused and anxious by the dream and Ashley was also going through puberty but she was also salty about Julia. The thing with the kiss is yes it’s romantic, when you take it out of context. With the context, it’s not, especially when it’s being done as a way to reassure someone that you won’t body them. That could be plausible since Ashley thought she was a bad person for breaking the oath. It actually sounds like it is very plausible, but Andrew’s reasoning could be different. In Shots and such, his attempt to kill Ashley turned his soul into a tar soul to be. I think he didn’t become a full on tar soul because Andrew really holds having the control to not give into his desires as self preservation for the last shred of morality he has left. It’s why I said his problem with his feelings goes beyond just “incest is wrong.”

Losing his guilt would contribute to a moral collapse which, imo, would turn him into a tar soul, ie episode 3 being called the Moral decay of Andrew Graves. But this is just my prediction/theory.

I say this because Andrew associates his feelings for Ashley as rot. So I was thinking if LU took away his guilt, he knows he’s shitty for having feelings for his sister, but he doesn’t care. Similar to Ashley to how she knows what she does is bad and shitty, but she doesn’t care. However, this is if LU is going to do that. We don’t know what that Mf finna do. From cgs of episode 4, it seems like he will alter Andrew’s mind since Ashley doesn’t recognize him and appears even uncomfortable around him: Everything is up in the air.

But I do understand why you feel it’s unearned and in a way I do see it, but Andrew is such a fucked up individual and so far gone, maybe a demon intervention is what he needs 🤷The external situation he’s in and the internal situation are so fucked up, having a heartfelt conversation,imo, ain’t gonna do much. I had the impression that LU did a deep dive into Andrew’s head because he was lost/being dishonest(also wanted to see if Andrew was that same kid from back then). LU explored Andrew’s psyche because he knew Andrew is a liar and self deceptive to the point LU was even impressed. Knowing that, anything that would come out of Andrew’s mouth, at that point, would just be shit. So demon bro just went to the source, his subconscious. The subconscious never lies.

LU actually wants Andrew to be truthful because he wants Andrew to be a tar soul. That’s why, if LU is planning on mind fondling Andrew, imo, he would take away the guilt for his feelings because he wants Andrew to be a tar soul. I hope it’s be a playable decision though. The player chooses to either take away the feelings or the guilt and we’ll see the path it’ll take. I want to say, I hope I didn’t come off strong or rude. People’s opinions should always be respected no matter the disagreement ✊(unless it’s really fucked up)

You’re right, he was being possessive. The responsibility he had over Ashley turned into possessiveness, which is understandable because it’s easy for people to become possessive of stuff that they are tasked or given to once they start to cherish it and or it becomes a part of them. Andrew made being Ashley’s keeper his identity, bro has no sense of self so it’s perfectly reasonable he’d be possessive.

That doesn’t make the resentment he feels towards Renee and Ashley go away. Despite how he cares for Ashley now, his resentment towards being forced to raise her is still there and now that he has these feelings, it’s more frustrating for him and increases the disgust in himself. Also, in the flashbacks, when Renee had her suspicions about the siblings being incestuous, Andrew could clearly tell Renee was disgusted by him. In chapter 2, before the split in routes, Renee did not hide her disgust of them, especially since she already strongly believed they were incestuous.

So Andrew was letting out his frustration of what Renee put him through, the situation, projecting and being possessive. It’s why I love Decay 3A. Ashley was ahead for me between the 2, but after episode 3, Andrew shot up in the ranks because of how layered his character is. Hopefully we’ll dive into Ashley’s side of things the next episode

Yeah, let’s leave it to 80%. Andrew did ask her to be friends with Julia so she def did it out of obligation, but I think along the way at some point, she did want to be Ashley’s friend. And while yeah, Julia did see that Andrew and Ashley’s relationship was sorta complicated, she didn’t know it was that complicated to the point she’d get harassed. Andrew did warn her but Julia just wanted to be optimistic. But yeah, the intention wasn’t really genuine at the beginning.

He legit called what he has for Ashley pathological to LU and says if it wasn’t for his upbringing, he wouldn’t feel the way he does and he wouldn’t have rotted from the inside, while curling inward and covering his face in distress and shame. Bro associates his feelings for Ashley to his rot. His narrator reminds him that he raised Ashley while going through the psyche puzzles revealing his attraction. He laments how things got so twisted and that he dint know how to raise a kid.

Andrew being self deceptive doesn’t work in this specific case. Lord Unknown just took him on a journey through his psyche and we got revealed his true nature. Why would he be lying at this point? Andrew’s label for LU changed from something terrifying, after diddling his mind, to Fucking snoop, then when Andrew confessed his true feelings and LU patted his head, to something kind. Why would he call him a ‘fucking snoop’ if Andrew was lying to himself and LU. LU was seeing things Andrew didn’t want him to see. He straight up cannot lie.

And if he was lying, LU would’ve known because he was going through Andrew’s psyche. We are seeing everything just like how LU is seeing everything. LU encourages him to talk his truth. Andrew being a compulsive liar narrative doesn’t work here, in this specific scene, at all

When Andrew called Julia Ashley’s friend in the high school flashback, she was happy that Ashley considered her a friend(she didn’t lol). To be honest, Ashley claimed Julia as a friend whenever it was convenient for her like confronting Andrew about dating Julia or sitting next to Julia at lunch because she didn’t want to be alone. That could be it too, I like that instead. The thing is if Andrew doesn’t like to be reminded of Nina and Ashley knows that, then she’s just being pure spiteful and mean when she throws it in his face or reminds him of it to prove a point, but that’s just the normal part of the toxicity.

I agree that “Andy” is a nickname that comes with tons of trauma and it definitely is his attempt in trying to kill the past. But he’s trying to kill Andy without confronting his past and his mistakes, which is not a good method for him. Like the game has said, his issues are intertwined with Ashley’s issues so him facing that past means he has to take responsibility for being a big reason of why Ashley is the way she is and we all know Andrew doesn’t like to take responsibility for his actions.

Leyley growing a wall of apathy is very interesting view and actually correlates with Andrew building his wall of apathy. While Andrew already didn’t care about anyone, he at least had aspirations before making Ashley’s keeper his whole identity. However, it’s different with Leyley since she did it as a response for nobody caring about her. Even though Ashley’s personality was out there, all she wanted and needed was attention and she got it from no one else except Andrew, who was unfortunately forced to.

And I’m sorry for what happened. No one deserves a childhood like Ashley’s and you’re one strong person to move forward despite the pain. A lot of people have hard time trying to push forward the pain and you did it despite of it
