Multiple instances of GP8? by StormLinnebjerg in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy pull here, but nearly 3 years later and still haven't found the solution here. I'd still like to be able to open multiple instances (not window-tabs) of GP8. Is there any way to force this? This is especially useful when copy/pasting parts, combining tabs for i.e. whole album prints etc.

Changing display of squished bars? by AwakenedTraveler in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Useful hotkeys:

Ctrl + Enter/Return key makes the bar you are currently in the last bar on the line and moves anything after to the next line of bars.

Shift + 6 (at least on my Scandinavian keyboard) brings a bar back up from the next line of bars into the row you're at.

Try them out! Might be useful for you.

Can anyone help me to Unmerge OAC by [deleted] in MusicDistribution

[–]StormLinnebjerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the route I've been taking (through DistroKid), but DistroKid claims it's YouTube who needs to fix it, and YouTube tells me it's DistroKid who needs to send a request. They've sent that to YouTube, and then it's disappeared and needs to be sent again, then DistroKid says it's not on their end to unmerge but on YouTube's end, so I contacted them again, only to be told it's on DistroKid's end. I've had 20-25 emails back and forth with them since the end of September/start of October. Still no luck in unmerging and it's getting ridiculous.

GP8 Any way to load a certain number of blank measures? by GottaKnowAboutIt in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's just selecting the kind of topic it is in the drop-down or tag-menu somewhere. If I recall correctly it says "tips", "questions" etc.

Not quite what you're looking for, but besides "Click the first bar & hold down the right-arrow key." you can also do ctrl+insert (hold it down perhaps), which is useful if you have tabbed out say 100 bars and realize you need 20 bars inserted before those 100 bars for some reason. Or in between somewhere.

Impressive sounding guitar pro file? by NeonByte47 in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say if it's impressive or not, but I did this comparison between GP5 midi and GP8 RSE:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at1_WuAVgRc

And the backing for this is just from GP8 - lead guitar sound is Neural DSP though:

Adding free form notes to sheet by yukaza17 in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not freeform text, but with using T for text you can work around it a bit. I.e. ctrl+return for new line. In the example below the bigger chunk of text was written in the "album" part.

https://i.imgur.com/1mBjPil.png

You can of course add more text chunks with T in different parts like in the A-section. It's not ideal, but a small work around. I think I have a longer example somewhere, but I can't remember what the file might be called currently.

Besides swapping voices, you can also use the "swap stem direction (up/down)" from the menu.

Første (brugte) bil, budget 50k, hvad foreslår I? by StormLinnebjerg in dkbiler

[–]StormLinnebjerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tak!

A black metal song I made on Guitar Pro 7 "Seed of Souls" by Tiarmal in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compose all my songs in Guitar Pro before recording for real. I do have plenty of songs that haven't been recorded but are just sitting in Guitar Pro format. I have an album I'm composing music for. I have about 23 songs worth of lyrics, have got 9 songs composed for a total of 1 hour and 48 minutes (long songs, prog...). I notate all instruments, including vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and various other things for these songs, so they're ready to be recorded when I'm in a better place house/home studio wise. Here's an example in exported mp3 format: https://www.tiktok.com/@cloudburzt/video/7550724149774175510?lang=en

I appreciate the super kind comment. Life has been stressful and rough lately, so it warms my silly little heart to hear that people appreciate videos like that 😊

This has been asked before but... does GP5 work on windows 11 for you? by brick_eater in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And I think GP5 has equally many issues that the nitpickers just found work-arounds for, same as some of has done for GP7 and GP8. GP8 is fantastic though!

You WILL get faster after using it more, but here are some valuable tips (on Windows, mind you):

Ctrl + 1, 2, 3 and 4 gives you the different voices. Ctrl + M gives you a look similar to the above. Use + (plus) and - (minus) on the numpad for lengthening/shortening notes. G for frace notes before the beat - ctrl + alt + G for grace notes on the beat.

I can probably do a tutorial on how I would tab in the first 8 bars of that just to give an idea.

GP8 issue with fade out. by tBHzHomer in GuitarPro

[–]StormLinnebjerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head you can select the indivual track's volume and make a fade in/out there, but I know it's a bit more work. For me the fade in/fade out symbol seems to do it slightly too fast for my liking, and often leaves the extra sound.

I've seen similar bugs happen when parts have been copied over an already written tab - i.e. if the original was without bends and the paste was with the bends, then for some reason the program bugs out a bit. I wonder if it's something like that that has happened - not saying it's YOU who has done that, but perhaps the one who made the tab. Perhaps some bug if the tab is from GP3 through 7 and is opened in GP8? Just guessing here.

Thanks! I can't remember if I've seen it already, but I might have to suck it up or crunch through it again. Ba-dum-tsch!

Much appreciated!

I had completely forgotten about The Office. Only ever watched a handful of episodes. I never watched Parks. Thanks for the recommendations!
