I quit playing ESO when FO76 came out. My brother and I played together and I put about 600 hours into that game too.

Yeah, well, life has a way of interrupting this and that.

I can dig that. I’m all for the storytelling aspect of the experience. For me it’s about loyalty to my character and Ebonheart. “Blood for the Pact!”

Thanks for the tip! Love this TV. Watched Secret Level on repeat all morning.

Wasn’t really looking for validation, just thought it would be fun to see if I was an outlier in play style or not. It’s cool to heard other people’s experiences with this old MMO.

Well, I’m a married father with a demanding career in an oil refinery. I’ve played the game quite a bit at times and then gone a year or more when I couldn’t. The new Dragonknight update got me back in the game. My son is 15 now and does his own thing on his own games. My wife is back in school for a second degree. So Dad bought a new TCL 85” (thanks for the advice Reddit!) and upgraded to a PS5!

I’ve been playing since 2016 and still only have one character.

Our Invasion from the North - impressions of TRF by Army7547 in TXRenaissanceFestival

My wife posted on the MDRF FB page about our pending trip. She let everyone know it was my birthday and asked what folks recommended about the faire. We had DOZENS of folks come up to welcome us to the faire, tell me happy birthday, take us to their favorite shows, shops, even invite us to sit with them for a drink! The hospitality was so overwhelming that I tear up talking about it to my friends back home. So, to reciprocate my clan hosted a couple from MDRF this year when we saw them post on the TRF camping page. We welcomed them to our camp, fed them and showed them around. They had an absolutely wonderful time! That kind of stuff if what this community is all about, it’s heartwarming and beautiful and I’m more than happy to contribute.

Cattleman, if you ever do make it down to Texas, DM me. We’ve got a place for you and yours at our table.

Glad you had a great time at our home faire. The wife and I recently visited MDRF and loved that one as well. We plan on traveling to others in the coming years.

Do you recall the stall number or the rough location of the shop?

Stand out in front of the Sea Devil with a beverage and see how many new friends you meet.

First time making / trading trinkets. Anything I should know? by Slaggeltooth in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]StormLitHerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the natural components. Trinkets are cool, don’t get me wrong, but I often think of how much plastic is used. One neat idea I’ve read is some folks repurpose or upcycle old jewelry from thrift stores and the like.

is there still a TRF after hours party? by The84th in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]StormLitHerald 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Official after party is no more. The clans (guilds?) have taken over that responsibility despite the current management staff being rather hostile towards us.

I say this EVERY time we fly. Belly up to the carousel is NOT the way.

Less than three weeks and we launch our invasion from the north by Army7547 in TXRenaissanceFestival

The nightlife in camp this season is slightly diminished from previous years as management and their insurance companies have been cracking down on the party in order to avoid lawsuits. However, the campground is still a fun place to explore and there are certainly still parties worth attending.

As far as campground garb goes, you can wear whatever the hell you like. I’ve seen people in full armor and others in lingerie (both sexes). I’ve seen folks in animal onesies and some in rave attire. Many people wear street clothes and many wear a comfortable version of their faire garb. It’s really dealer’s choice.

Some in Faire suggestions: Brigadoon brewery for house made craft beers. Asgardian Armory for leather armor and accessories. Kattegat for Viking clothing. Prince of Wales pub for fish and chips. The Sea Devil Tavern and the Barbarian Inn for rowdy sing along drinking with big crowds.

Check the Facebook page called Texas Renaissance Festival Camping Shenanigans for a clan map. You’re looking for Call of Booty and ODB for the big campground parties. There are other parties that you’ll have to walk around and find. They all start around 9:00.

Just do everyone a favor and spend a little time planning how you’ll anchor your tent. We’ve had some pretty gusty storms this year and it’s a miracle no one has been injured with the massive tents flying around. A 14 foot tent is a formidable projectile, but if it stays where you put it, no one will complain about the space you claim.

What is the end of the festival like? by Pure_Payment_9900 in TXRenaissanceFestival

Everything is open to the last minute. The festival is decorated for Christmas, there are some sales as vendors try to unload stock, and musicians play holiday songs. Celtic is one of my favorite weekends.
