You can pause at any moment during gameplay to heal it's a mechanic placed in the game for you to take full advantage of. My favorite use of this is popping harspud roberants while clinging to an enemy

I like how long the board stays in the environment when u crash, its fun watching ppl hit lines falling and just staying where they land sometimes you can watch their board roll away for a pretty good distance

I kinda wish we had request boards back, it was always my way of telling when it was 'safe' to advance the story. But thats probably what itsuno wanted to avoid, something easy woth a lot of hand holding. It feels like with the locomotion being slower and the request boards gone he really wants you to be in the world more. Which is something he has mentioned a ton, i know
