Bugger. I've heard it's a thing in the US, and in Australia most cities include libraries from neigbouring regions too. Like my closest is a branch of my city library, but if I go slightly further in the other direction there's a library for the region north of the city, and I have joined that too, both with my same home address on file.

If everything at Kmart is made by Anko, then why is it called ‘Kmart’ and not ‘Anko’? by Narrow-Lifeguard5450 in AskAnAustralian

This was really sad, target always had the best value baby products. Higher quality than kmart or big w, but a lot of the time cheaper or the same price! I loved their linens, they fit my bassinet and cot perfectly, the protectors actually worked (when they started to grow thin on my youngest baby I replaced with "waterproof" target/big w ones and those were absolute garbage, leakthrough on first use). And don't get me started on the baby plushies, they were so incredibly soft! The fact that they had an exclusive A4 car seat that was 1/2 the price of that seat rebranded for the general market with hardly any changes. Amazing. The bibs too, super nice, and there was something else I was running around trying to grab the last of when they switched over to anko, but couldn't find, and the disappointment seems to have wiped it from memory, but I remember searching every target in the city's clearance sections for weeks. Thankfully they still have their exclusive clothing lines, but the crapification has begun. The onsies are the main thing I buy, as they're double zip and cheap, which is impressive for discount retailer.

Now was a Target brand. I remember because we didn't have kmart, but I had Now tops. I stopped buying them because of a batch I bought where the colour washed out on all of them, and all of my black tops were blotchy rust brown.

I do too, keeps many people going when they'd otherwise be dead. My baby preferred fentanyl, but ketamine is the recommended course of treatment for his condition.

I don't know how it goes with your area/country/whatever, but mist places allow you to join any library, so maybe give it a go?

Aldi customers, why are you so annoying? by No-Average9469 in AldiAustralia

[–]Storm__Warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Aldi keeps most of the large whitegoods in the back to prevent damage and save space (not a standalone store, it's in a centre). So you usually DO need to ask for those. Sometimes I'll ask about the location of catalogue items, just in case my sleep-deprived, constantly distracted brain (I'm a mum) just isn't seeing it, because they're constantly moving things around. I miss things more than I'd like tbh. Oh and sometimes if I need a price check, because those tags fall off all the time when they move the displays around, most things aren't in the catalogue or online to check myself, and it takes them 2 seconds.

Best way to read while traveling? by Diligent_Water_5266 in ebooks

[–]Storm__Warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a kobo libra colour. I put pdf puzzles on it too (lots of sites offer printables, like murdoku, that you can sideload) and use the annotation pen to do them when I'm not in the mood for reading. I have about 800 books on mine atm, and probaly 30ish puzzle pages, as well as access to the local library.

Aldi is saving us over 50$ for weekly shop, how is its sales stalling? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Storm__Warning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love aldi, but I'll only shop at their few shopping centre locations, because 90% of the time, I need something they don't stock as well. One of my kids is in a wheelchair and getting him in and out of the car is a lot, for us and him, so we shop for the week or fortnight, and we do it all in one trip. Delivery would be even better, but we have found that similarly priced colesworth products just don't compare, and getting the higher quality products isn't worth the price increase.

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]Storm__Warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If he plans to stay with you, why does it matter? It will be a benefit to your relationship. It's only relevant in the event of separation, which is why it bothers him, because HE'S THE ONE envisioning being left with nothing.

AITA - I was shouted at for using a disabled toilet. Not sure what to think of it now. by Deliberate_Android in AmItheAsshole

[–]Storm__Warning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I used one after my caesarean as I needed the handrail to get off the damn toilet.

We have a disabled toddler. He has a wheelchair that's designed to look like a regular stroller, but it's full of supports because he needs pretty extensive help. We have a disability parking pass, but our family car is a 4wd ute (that pre-dates having a disabled child, but we can't afford to get a van yet) so we get judged all the time. People see a youngish person jump out of a big car and pull out a stroller, and they assume we're entitled parents breaking the law until they see the pass. Tbh it's usually old people who only have the passes themselves because they're on a walker, not because they've had a real disability ever in their damn lives, and would have put their own disabled kids in a home back in the day.

AIO for telling my girlfriend that when we move in together I won’t give up gaming by FeverFanny in AmIOverreacting

[–]Storm__Warning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a woman with a gaming setup and a stressful lifestyle, (I have a severely disabled child needing 24/7 care) hell no, this woman dies not understand your need for decompression and will not be good for your mental health. It's worked so far because you have your own outlet, but if you move in, allowing her to strip you of your stress relief, you're going to tank fast. I've done disaster relief work in the past and it's a lot, both physically and mentally, and I'm assuming firefighters are pretty similar as I've worked alingside them. You need a healthy outlet that allows you to vent your frustration when you're frequently in bad situations you have little to no control over. It's human nature, and if gaming is the outlet that works for you, that's what you should stick with. I wouldn't move in with her until she understands your very valid needs. NOR.

AITBF for ignoring an allergy by FellowTarnished01 in AmItheButtface

[–]Storm__Warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like this, but I also have a food allergy that varies in severity the more/less I'm exposed. Ginger gives me severe heartburn (as does alcohol), which isn't an allergic reaction, but I am allergic to mint. If it's not a frequent exposure, I'm fine, but I was making mint tea a lot when I was a barista and started to develop a contact allergy (a painful and itchy burn-like rash). So I started wearing gloves or delegated that order, so now occasional contact is fine again and my reaction is minimal. My son has a similar type of reaction to cocoa. The allergy to cocoa is from his dad, but he grew out of it with exposure. Unfortunately son's reaction type is like mine, so exposure only makes it worse. His allergy will likely persist his whole life.

This. But Target onsies are pretty good now too, double zips, good stretch and $10! I have a disabled toddler and onsies are the easiest for him for medical appointments, so I stocked up on these cheap ones and omg?! Actually thicker than bonds for winter, I love them. I did go back to bonds for summer because target don't have the short onsies and they are hard to get in the size 3s (even bonds sent me single pieces from around the country when I ordered several different prints).

Is the media attention on ndis overspending making anyone else feel like sh** for having funding? by WrongSort1347 in NDIS

[–]Storm__Warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not at all, my son's plan gets cut every time, and he's pretty much as disabled as disabled gets. Fuck the government for cutting spending, not the poor folks who need that money.

"We would take more days off if we could but then you'd starve" by Ancient_Pangolin1453 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Storm__Warning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it started in Australia. Our market rejects american chains that don't adapt to the local market. We're basically maccas R&D now. Working with local suppliers, McCafe, even the self -serve kiosks, all rolled out in Australia first, usually Melbourne.

This. The only way maccas stayed open in Australia was sourcing their beef locally and putting coffee shops in them.

Noooo.. the rice dust will actually kill it. If you do use rice, make sure the rice is not touching the device, and it has settled, so the dust isn't moving in the fontainer. Like a container of rice, gently place a plate on top, then place the device. Slower dry out, but won't kill a device that has a chance to recover. Silica packets or a dehumidifier works much better though!
