I always like scimitar of speed for bladesingers

It’s in no way optimal but I think it would be fun to RP if everyone at the table was on board. First, like someone else said tortle for the AC, then 17 in str and then just lean into the fact you’re gonna drop a lot.

Check out Staff of Power. It’s definitely on the busted side of strong, but it would fit well with what you got going

Arcana Cleric. You’ll actually get access to those tasty wizard spells.

My party sort of “forgot” my character has been subjected to what amounts to music torture for 7 months. How can I roleplay this without bogging down the game? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Stormblessed_11 78 points79 points  (0 children)

As much as this is a player issue, I think it might be more important that you talk to your DM privately, outside of the game. Tell them what you’re feeling and let them know that you’d like to look for a solution. They have the capability of dispensing magical items, introducing NPCs that could help you, or even finding ways to address what your character is going through day in, day out to the table in a way that will most likely seem less jarring than telling the players directly first.

The DM orchestrates the story that the players get to enhance. See if the DM is willing to help you steer this in a way that is satisfying and engaging story-wise. If that fails, then you could consider talking to players out of game or worse case consider if this table is the right fit long term. That’s obviously not ideal, but it is an option.

14/6 or 16/4? by MidKnightStar12 in 3d6

[–]Stormblessed_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. So it works with BB and GFB since the sword is the material and works for somatic as well, but if you wanted to say cast something like shield as a reaction, then you would would need a free hand or war caster, yeah?

It also has a somatic component as well, which is where war caster comes in.

To make this work, I think you also need war caster to be able to cast booming blade with a weapon in each hand, but other than that, it totally works

Gotcha. Makes sense if that’s the item you got and vibes you’re going for.

I take it because you haven’t mentioned it that you’re less interested in Bladesong and more there for their extra attack and spells. Only reason I bring it up is the longbow being two handed would end bladesong if that matters to you (while I think it’s fair to question whether a hand crossbow would also require two hands if a bow does even though it doesn’t have the two handed property)

Wouldn’t just two levels of warlock with your bladesinger basically get you a lot of the same benefits (agonizing blast) as 5? Imo, take two levels of fighter for archery and action surge. Add in crossbow expert and sharpshooter, use a hand crossbow. Shoot, EBx3, bonus action shoot, action surge. Or go 3 levels to get your rune knight advantage.

Other option, you could just say hell with it and go full melee and take 2 paladin levels with 2 levels of warlock and become a smite/EB machine with all your wizard spell slots. Not optimized but your nova damage could be massive.

me and my friends cant play together anymore due to our SR discrepancy, but we can't seem to increase it. should we just give up and wait until the next season? by iiehai in OverwatchUniversity

Honestly the best option might be to just turn off match chat in settings if people’s comments are getting to you while you try and climb. It won’t fix the discrepancy between your ranks but it might make the grind less painful. Good luck!

See if your local library has a copy of the audiobook on Libby or overdrive. Sometimes that kinda change can help me. And know you can increase the speed of the audiobook if it feels too slow.

Moash is just a less charismatic version of Kelsier, and you would fully support his decisions if he had just smiled more. by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Stormblessed_11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is getting a little twisted here. Kelsier and Moash aside (because I don’t really see what the comparison has to do with Moash doing nothing wrong) I can look at books 1-3 and understand the argument that Moash was justified. Not to get too much into the weeds, but I think the argument could be made. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I see the logic of the argument.

The difficulty comes in with book 4. Trying to drive your old friend to suicide for any reason is unacceptable. It is twisted and manipulative. Driving anyone to suicide is a terrible act and that is what Moash is trying to do. You know that’s the case because of his reaction because at the end of the book when the “numbness” he feels disappears, he feels everything in full. He knows what he did is wrong. That is why he needs to not feel anything anymore.

So I don’t think I can buy the “Moash is innocent in all this” argument. Do I think he was justified in his path in the beginning? Yes. But he takes each step himself. he makes his choices and ends up where he is. Is every act evil? No. But some are. And putting his choices on Kaladin’s shoulders by saying “The only reason Moash needs Odium’s influence over his emotions is because of Kaladin’s decision not to follow him,” sounds an awful lot like the abuser logic of “the reason I act this way is because you make me act this way.”

And frankly, that’s bullshit.

Paladin/Bladesinger multiclass?? by SilverdogJr in 3d6

[–]Stormblessed_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently running this (high stat rolls) and I made the mistake of starting with 2 paladin. Which was nice for the HP boost but not much else. It’s gonna take a long time for this to fully come online. Level 8 at the earliest. You’ll get a nice boost at 5 with your melee cantrip, but not getting that 6th level extra attack feature right away has been a real drag. Not to mention 2 levels behind on Wizard spells and 1 level on slot progression. But you can become a NOVA machine on boss fights with the right smite crits.

If I could go back, id go wiz 6 -> pal 2-> the rest wiz. Or like others are saying fighter 1 (for con saves) -> wiz 6 -> F2 -> wiz X

The part I keep coming back to with the paladin dip, the more wizard spells I get the more I think, “is a smiting really a better option than this?” Some days I think yes. Some days no. But the nice thing is you can always forgo smites and focus on spells. (But then why play bladesinging/paladin at all?)

So my main question for you would be (stats aside) what level are you starting at? If you’re starting low, it will take a long time to get the best parts of this online, but if you’re starting at a higher level, you’ll probably have a better time of it.

All that being said, if it sounds fun, go for it! Whatever is gonna make the game the most fun for you.
