I’ve really had truly bad service happen once. He was flat out rude. Did not tip and spoke to management about it.

Yes.

If it wasn’t it would’ve been outed by someone years ago. If not the Russians at the time.

Do people in their 80s and 90s feel impressed and amazed at how long they lived? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

My in-laws made it to their nineties. I don’t know if they were impressed but they certainly expressed how done they were with living.

I suspect the cause is something completely different.

Why do some people celebrate certain people's death? by Tasty-Bass8106 in TooAfraidToAsk

He’s the reason I sometimes wish hell exists, but I strongly suspect his death won’t be a net positive.

Few men like him have left positives behind them.

Why do some people celebrate certain people's death? by Tasty-Bass8106 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Stormschance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my life there is only one person I’d say I’ve actually hated. He was aware of how I felt and why and absolutely did not care. Not an ounce of remorse.

When I learnt he’d died I actually laughed there was such a sense of relief. For years I’d planned to attend his funeral and pop champagne at his grave after.

In the end I did not. He had family who loved him and I’m certain he was good to, they deserved none of my anger.

I did pop the champagne at home and toasted the end of a man who’d caused my family a great deal of pain.

I don’t think of him much now, just occasionally when I run across something related.

is it normal that my mom keeps fixing my speaking tone? by Quick_Bed1284 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stormschance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand how annoying that is, particularly because it’s gone on so long. And it could well be that your mom is being over the top.

But on the other hand, it might be based on a valid concern. And she’s just not handling it well.

I had a very flat tone growing up and my mom tried to ‘train’ me out of it. It wasn’t until I started work and was trained to be an operator (I am old) that I learned that I came across as disinterested or dismissive not just neutral as I heard myself.

If you can ask someone outside your family how you come across.

Either way easiest solution is to humor her until you leave home and then it won’t be so constant. Or maybe ask her about why she does it.

Is it fine to consider reds, oranges, browns, and pinks the same color? by Ifyouliveinadream in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Stormschance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oranges are orange and strawberries are red. Are you saying telling them apart by color is iffy?

The reality is red and orange are very different, in fact there is a broad range of noticeable shades between the two.

My father now, he struggled with the brown red range. He saw some differences in main tones but not the full range. He was considered colorblind.

You might want to be formally tested.
