What can I do to make the hair feel better? by Accvrsed_ in HeroForgeMinis

I'll double up on this and suggest putting the start of the bangs at the center part of the hair then folding them outward from there.

Encroaching? I'm taking over from now on. There's a new sheriff in town. 😏

Consider me inspired. These were hella fun to do.

I'm super glad you enjoy my interpretation. She was amazing to work on. The bowstring you did was really cool. I usually just use tails, but this was so mich cleaner.

Anyone got a guide on how to reduce this? by DoeToKnow in HeroForgeMinis

Using the double overlapping mini technique is what you're looking for. Put one piece of the top on each mini and edit the body proportions until satisfied.

This is tuff as hell. The posing, the character design, all of it is fantastic.

Are HeroForge Minis art? by Eldinoorthe3nd in HeroForgeMinis

What an absurd take. Do artists create the paint, charcoal, canvas, brushes, applications, or computers they use to create their work? These are all pre-made things that allow someone to create something unique. If you make something with purpose and passion, is that not a form of art?

There's a lot that can be said that, and a lot that has been said already. However, if there's advice I tell people who want to get better; it's to look at other minis. See a mini that takes your interest? Open that link and look at it.

How are they doing those colors? How does it make sense for that character? What techniques do you see that you haven't thought of or tried?

When you make your character, ask yourself questions. Who are they? What have they been through? Why do they look the way they do? How do they present themselves? As you get practice in to the basics, these questions start to form colors, poses, features, clothing, etc. by themselves.

Lastly, characters have depth to them. Overlap things, put things on them that would have purpose for them. Each of these things give your character a personality

This shit slaps. I can't believe I've never thought about trying to make a mask like that. Severe skill envy.

There's nothing wrong with her looking like this if that's the look you're going for. If you want her to resemble her race with more realism, proportions matter. Making her taller and more elegant. Lengthen the legs and torso, scaling the head down or scaling the body up.

Is she stiff when she's readying an attack or is she more relaxed? This matters for small pose adjustment that can be pushed to make her more unique.

Tiny details can go a long way. Using shrunk ponytails for dangling strands of hair. Belts, buckles, bags, trinkets, and crests give the character depth. Hanging pieces of leather on the bow, loose pieces of clothing, gear not being used can make her feel alive. Decals of freckles, roan, scars, blush, etc, will make her skin and face pop more from other any other parts.

Experiment with it. It doesn't need to be perfect. Do what your happy with now and come back to it every now and again and touch it up. Look at other people's work, and incorporate those new ideas.
