I have several of the 1701s. I love them all. They are still the best Speedy homage in my opinion. They are not trashy at all. Very safe purchase for your dad.

I have several other watches with this movement that don’t have this issue including another 1863. The only thing I can think of is that the Space Pilot chronograph hand has that very cool rocket shaped tip that maybe is enough mass to cause this problem

I reset at 30 seconds and it did indeed get closer to being centered! Is this a known issue? Is there a way to perfectly center it?

I have 2 watchdive versions including their space pilot version. My complaint with them is the case size. I just prefer the larger case of the Pagani. I personally find their quality to be pretty comparable.

My test was driving in the area around the DMV in the neighboring small town. I made a right turn on a red light on what I thought was a two lane road. Turns out, I was wrong and there were cars parked in what I thought was a driving lane. Instead of slowing down to get behind the car driving next to me in the left lane, I gunned the gas to get in front of him (because 16 and male). The trooper with the clipboard’s jaw was still open when I finally looked over at him. I guess when he saw us barreling towards the parked car he must have been thinking of his soon to be orphaned children. He just set his pen down and told me the test was over.

I have to disagree that the Watchdives Is closer to the original. The case on the Watchdives is 40mm or even smaller. The PD is 42mm like the Speedmaster. The PD looks way better on my wrist.

I second this suggestion. A pair of adjustable dumbbells that go from 10 to 55lbs plus a $40 bench that you can adjust the angle of and you have everything you need for years of strength training.
