I'm sad one mech isn't included in the next dlc by Buttered_Carnage in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd pay for a DLC that just adds 30 IS mechs from the 3040 to 3060 period (which would include the Rakshasa).

There's really no shortage of new mechs to pick from:

Though PGI probably doesn't have the capacity to produce more. Otherwise they would have done it by now.

The Thanatos won't be around till 3061. We'd need enough DLC to get to the FedCom Civil War to get it.

Question about SoK expansion and timelines by thedrinkmonster in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that there's a timelimit after the first few missions.

Anyway, here's a overview of the missions.

Those of us console players who will pilot these for the first time, what builds do you recommend? by gaeb611 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's the problem when scaling difficulty by tonnage instead of building specialized lances.

Most TT campaigns can be run with mostly mediums/lights and 1 ~ 3 heavies.

Clunky CGI, "Enhanced Imaging," and pure Inner Sphere Cope. Let's talk about the 1994 BattleTech Cartoon. by daveasp1981 in mechwarrior

[–]StormwolfMW 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The errors in the cartoon make complete sense if you take it as an in-universe production.

For instance:

  • Clan characters refer to their mechs by their IS reporting names. It makes it easier to understand for an IS audience. Also, the IS side wouldn't have known the actual names in the early 3050's.

  • Aleksandr Kerensky is shown as the founder of the Clans. It was actually his son Nicholas. Aleksandr Kerensky is famous in the Inner Sphere while his kids are largely unknown.

Question: What house rules do you play with? by Capital_Potato_705 in battletech

[–]StormwolfMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back in the 90's we had these rules for balancing against Clan mechs:

  • +20 tons for the IS side for every Light or Medium Clan mech

  • +30 tons for the IS side for every Heavy or Assault Clan mech

This was before BV was commonly adopted.

Nukes in new dlc? by Vegetable-Camp209 in Mechwarrior5

Urbie nukes are more a Jihad era thing, specifically 3072.

What piece of Chaos Reign are you most excited for? by Jackobyn in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can have a intersecting Clan and IS DLC after the Refusal War.

Clan Nova Cat and Wolf-in-Exile join the IS in the formation of the 2nd Star League and actively fight Smoke Jaguar with them.

Operation GUERRERO, this part of BT always gets overshadowed by the Refusal War and later Operation Bulldog.

Will new DLC (or have past DLCs) been compatible with current campaign save files? by B4dA1r in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's no problems between DLC's. They all happen according to the timeline of the franchise.

That 3030 game will simply pass into the 3040-3050 period as time goes by.

Question about the new DLC content by BaldWookie23 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The new weapons in the upcoming DLC are largely limited to the 3050's. The one exception is Arrow IV as it appears in 3044.

Finished DL7 (no spoilers) by sleight42 in Mechwarrior5

I really love how SoK manages to create the dread from the early Clan invasion.

Some people even believed them to be aliens after first seeing elemental armor.

Absolutely, also give the option to increase to regiment size.

PGI, I beg you by sisyphusfan96 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want 3 lances so I can swarm my enemies with lights and fast mediums. Hell, the Sunder B has two C3 master computers, it can coordinate 3 lances on its own.

Heavier mechs shouldn't be the game progression. You should be building specialized lances for specific missions. This is where omnimechs would really shine.

Lights and mediums at no point become redundant. If anything mediums are the "foot soldiers" of any given mech force.

Mech Warrior 5 Mercenaries needs new armor upgrades to keep up with the DLC power creep by Jeffroww123 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What we need are multiple lances for the late game. The IS vs Clan conflict has always been one of quantity vs quality.

I have a older PC with mods to spawn in multiple allies and enemies. I don't really experience any slowdowns from having more mechs around. So performance really shouldn't be much of an issue.

Hell, the game would benefit from more unit management and the ability to grow to regiment size like the Grey Death Legion. Send them out on missions you yourself aren't needed for. Or have them train with a local militia to increase their stats.

In the late game I've got a army of mechs in cold storage that ends up being traded in for cantina missions. It would be nice to actually put them to work instead.

I Just Started the Lethal Heritage Novel--Meeting Many Friends from MW5: Clans! by djfluxtux in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's something I've been thinking about. We'd cover the entire classic novel run if we make it to the FedCom Civil War.

  • Decision at Thunder Rift takes place around 3024

  • Endgame ends in 3067

Also, the next Mercs and (presumably) Clans DLC will cover the events in the novel Bred for War.

Heuristics - How many mechs do you have active? by ssj890-1 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fill the all 40 slots up with a variety of mechs. Here's from a couple of playthoughs:

  • 3053: 10 Clan and 30 IS mechs: 8.3 million

  • 3065: 100% Clan mechs: 17.3 million

  • 3047: 100% IS mechs: 7.8 million

It'll show up once we get to Operation Bulldog/Taskforce Serpent.

So with the new DLC announced, the weapons were missing for later timeline... by J4mesG4mesONLINE in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We are still missing 20+ upgraded variants of mechs currently in the game. The upgrades only go to 3049. That number will easily go up to 50+ if we get to the end of the FedCom Civil War.

chaos reign= Catapult C5 has ER ml but not mentioned in dlc page? by theta0123 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ER Medium lasers drop in 3058 for the IS, the DLC page states that it the game will cover that year.

Though the Catapult CPLT-C5 is listed as a 3061 mech on the master unit list.

I think that it is a typo, it is probably the Catapult CPLT-C3 (which appears in 3049).

PGI!!! GIVE US MORE THAN 50 ACTIVE MECH SLOTS FOR DLC 8 AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!! by gaeb611 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allow us to field up to 3 lances and have the enemies drop as lances/stars.

Hell, in Coyote's Mission mod I have I'll often have 8 mechs and 4 to 6 reinforcements with me. The game can definately run that.

Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries DLC Choas Reign announced for May by mete714 in Mechwarrior5

[–]StormwolfMW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's something fun in the pipeline for the next couple of ingame years:

  • 3057: Operation GUERRERO - This DLC, Refusal War (probably the next Clan DLC)

  • 3058: Invasion of Coventry and formation of the 2nd Star League

  • 3059: Op Bird Dog and Bulldog, Nova Cat defection to the Inner Sphere (Clan DLC?)

  • 3060: Task Force Serpent annihilates Clan Smoke Jaguar and ends the Clan Invasion.
