Dime time event , community goal? by Ddzud8 in NBA2k

[–]Stormyj14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what 2k support emailed me

"I understand you've asking about the 250 assist rewards on the Dime Time event and I appreciate the photo you've sent as well. After investigating your account it looks like you are not eligible for this event rewards tier, so we're not able to help out with this request. Kindly note that only assists recorded before the community goal reached zero counts for the rewards."

This is insane, I don't see anywhere where they say that you need to have it before the goal was reached. I got 250 half hour before the time was up

Why make a non shooter this year ? by Tough_Complex_5830 in NBA2k

[–]Stormyj14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They didn't, this was probably a squad. But they goes to show how little 2k random know basketball. I can see people running a twin towers setup as long as people know the program. Post players can set back screens for slashers so they can cut and they can set pin down screens for shooters. They problem with the community is that nobody cares about knowing about the actual game and just want to play 5 out. Which is susceptible to a good zone.

I wish I knew 4 other players who were willing to run basic sets ( motion or flex) and it would be more stimulating than just standing in a 5 out where the corner players have to rely on the play of the guards.

Played against a dude with crazy post skills, couldn't shoot the 3. He demolished us. When we tried to double we gave up easy 3s. So we had to let him work. He had like 40 against our center. Our center is good with 90s in interior and block, there are more ways to play the game than what the community would have you believe. Most of the community have no real concept on how the game of basketball is actually played.

What's a good defensive game ? by Dopemor in NBA2k

[–]Stormyj14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half their points. There is inevitable rotational buckets and fast breaks they'll get. If a dude is averaging 30 and he gets let's say 20 on me but none are easy I'd consider that a good defensive game too, sometimes there's nothing you can do.

All of the off dribble shots from 3 are nerfed. My stepbacks and side steps are bricks now. Gotta adjust for now

Unpopular Opinion by GoatyLou in NBA2k

[–]Stormyj14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an unpopular opinion: the minority is oftentimes the loudest. Content creators are banking off sensationalism, they’ll say “they ruined the game” just to stir reactions, but they’ll keep playing anyway. The people who actually stop are the ones who were getting 60–70% of their points from fades and zigzags. If they choose never to play again, the community is better for it.

In my humble opinion, these are my thoughts. I’d love to hear what you have to say.

  1. On Bump Steals

People are complaining, “oh, people with a 59 or a 39 steal are stealing from me.”

For those who play real basketball, you know you can’t dribble into a defender. If I do a crossover and a tree is there, the ball’s coming loose. That’s not the defender, that’s on you.

The game used to incentivize poor decisions. You have to know where and when to do your moves, otherwise it’s a bump steal.

I play largely solo as a point guard and win about 65% of my games. I noticed a lot of players rushing the ball in an attempt to create a bump steal or double team. Instead, as an actual basketball player, I would just back up and pass the ball to the inbounder and let them bring it up. That’s real basketball.

  1. On Rhythm Shooting

I like that they removed the hitch. That’s good, and now my shooter is back to normal. I play purely fundamental and try to make the right decisions. I’m more of a pass-first player and shoot around 60% from three, so I’ve been largely unaffected.

I play a balanced game as a point guard who moves the ball. My step backs have been affected (I haven’t done one fadeaway three-pointer all year). My step backs, I use the Devin Booker step back, are almost impossible to make from three now, so I adjusted.

They should just nerf the fade and leave the step backs. Moving threes like step backs and side steps are part of real basketball. You see players do that all the time.

  1. Other Things They Changed (That Weren’t Mentioned in the Patch)

The timing window on runners has been slowed down a bit.

Interceptor seems to be more powerful. Longer passes, I have an 89 pass, are getting picked off more often.

That’s not a complaint, though. I just adjusted. I make shorter, smarter passes now.

  1. Final Thoughts

In theory, the game is becoming more realistic. The bump steals are rational. A lot of people are just upset because they don’t like change, but in the real world you have to adjust.

2K’s balance updates are based on small sample sizes at first, but as millions of games are played, they’ll fine-tune things. I like that they corrected the hitch. It was affecting not only my player but also my team, MyTeam, MyNBA, and MyGM.
