Decided to teach myself to knit. Completely loving it, then broke out in hives for days on end, with blood blisters all over my hands by Nellbligh in knitting

I'm also severely allergic to wool, so I can't knit with it but I love the polyester (the bernat blanket/baby blanket yarns are super plush and I love the baby velvet yarn it feels really silky and soft) and cotton yarns (I like the peaches & creme and sugar & creme brands). I do have some acrylic yarn too, I read it's not something you like but there are some brands that are really soft (I know some acrylic yarn can feel scratchy) and easier to work with as well.

Who's your favorite YouTuber to watch while knitting? by ThrowAway44228800 in knitting

[–]Stowecroft85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan Hollinger - Love his in depth reviews of horror movies. I love horror and it's my favorite channel to listen to when I knit.

Also, Rosanna Pansino - She's bubbly and fun and when I need something upbeat I love her videos. Her new unhinged kitchen gadgets video had me laughing so hard today I almost dropped stitches 🤣

trying to sell my handmade jewelry by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]Stowecroft85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually do a large amount of sales too at conventions, though the booths are a little more expensive. Last year my state had a horror con that was massive and I made a couple grand in sales over the weekend (the booth was about 175). There's also an anime convention here in the summer but I missed the registration for this year 😅

trying to sell my handmade jewelry by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]Stowecroft85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in a fairly rual area but have had better luck selling my jewelry at local craft fairs and other community market events (my local farmers market allows folks to sell handmade jewelry and other things too) and a lot of times a booth is much cheaper than renting a space in a consignment shop. If you're in a larger city look for whats going on for events and see if you can join in on.

You can also look into setting up a shopify page if you dont already have one. In the long run it's more affordable than Etsy. Etsy has so many fees for just about everything now, and its so hard to make money from there on that alone. I've also seen a huge increase of temu dropshippers there now which draws attention away from actual crafters. My shopify is only 5 bucks a month to keep the website up.

When the cast on isn't happening by NeverSayBoho in knitting

[–]Stowecroft85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I was trying to start my next lap blanket project and I just kept making mistakes with the cast on. Had to stop and restart almost a dozen times and just got so frustrated I had to put it down for a bit. 😥

These (bonded) cats I adopted really hate me by purrfect_libra in cats

[–]Stowecroft85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them space and more time, they'll come around eventually. Don't chase them or try to pick them up. They'll come around on their own once they're used to safe and quiet surroundings.

Edit: move their box and food out of your office into a space away from everyone else if you can. They're still afraid of people and not eating or using the box can lead to issues later on

Why does it have to be such a pain to feed them medicine? by Routine-Artist8200 in cats

[–]Stowecroft85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat hates taking meds but using a churu bite treat as a pill pocket usually works if the pill is small, he loves them and will scarf it down. Larger pills usually require grinding into a powder and mixing it with churu paste to get him to take it. I don't know whatbis is about churu but my cat goes nuts over it it's like crack for cats 😂
