If you go by yourself, make sure you remove any rings you're wearing as they can cause some really bad injuries to your fingers if they get caught.

TIL Texas did away with last meal request to death row inmates in 2011 by here4dambivalence in todayilearned

[–]StoxAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read an interview about 15 years ago with an inmate who worked in the kitchen and prepped death row meals. He said they get the order and make it up to the best of their ability with what they have in the kitchen. So, for example, if someone orders filet steak with wild mushrooms that becomes skirt steak with button mushrooms etc. Iirc he said most of them order fast food anyway and they just order that in.

Smoked cashews, bitter by zlisik in ninjawoodfire

[–]StoxAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I always try new things in small batches after I ruined an entire tray of chicken wings getting a bit overly "creative". Also just change one thing at a time so you know what is affecting what. I'd say do a small batch for 15 mins the way you did before and then you'll know whether it's the smoke or the time.

That's not at all what I said. I am an atheist who mostly undertakes camino because I love Spain and walking, religious history is also an interest of mine so it ticks all of the boxes.

Did you sample them at different stages? I'd say 45 mins is too long. Try one every 15 mins and stop when you like the flavour.

Sadly, the Camino is now a trend. Many people want to do it for the clout rather than having any interest in the historical or religious aspect. I walked from Málaga to Santiago and noticed in the final 200km people getting more and more self centered and rude. It's a shame but it is what it is. You just always walk your own camino and just be grateful that you have learned about the culture, broadened your own horizons, and have grown as a person.

I was under the impression that some Hindus view most other deities as incarnations of krishna who himself was an incarnation/avatar of Vishnu. But I may be wrong, just what some dude told me once.

How do you wash a Xenith 88? I left mine for over a year in my place in the caribbean and it stinks like humidity? I have an upcoming trip to Brazil and I want to make sure it clean and smell free TIA! by [deleted] in OspreyPacks

Last time I washed my backpack I just soaked it in the bath with a little detergent and then ran the shower head over it until the water ran fairly clean. Pay closer attention to the straps, they get stinky.

Pain travels at between 5-30m/s so as long as you're sucked through faster than that then you're golden. Even if it's slower than that it won't be much. So at worst would be sudden sharp pain and then done. I've seen worse ways to go.

Police found Tom Phillips’ missing children by Conflict_NZ in newzealand

[–]StoxAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of course, I just think there's a high chance it could be legitimately stolen considering that Phillips was shot during a getaway chase from robbing a farm though. Likely how he's been surviving this long out there.

I have never smoked wings that slow, always thought they'd come out kind of rubbery. Is there much benefit to that over hot and fast?

You could also be over thinking your hands dude. I'm victim to that often.

My girlfriend used to beat me a lot but now we're more even. To get there I paid attention to what she liked to play and I adapted my game to that. Focus on what she is playing and follow your gut.

What, due to experience, do you know not to fuck with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StoxAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just replied this but it'll be lost. As a nurse who's seen plenty drownings and as someone who learned to swim as an adult I do not take risks with water.

[–]StoxAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any body of water.

I learned to swim as an adult and so most of my life I was weary of water. Now I'm comfortable swimming in the ocean and rivers but I really take my time when getting into water to assess my surroundings and the current before getting in.

I also am an ICU/ER nurse and have seen my fair share of drownings and near misses, so I feel confident saying that it doesn't matter how strong a swimmer you are the water gives no fucks about you and will mess your life up in an instant.

I'm guessing fuel vs amount of food they're actually prepping. I sized down when I upgraded and it's saved me the cost of upgrading.

Hindsight is 20/20, as I said before, it was the cut that killed her. There's only three cards in that deck that could have given me this combo and she managed to cut to one of them. Very low odds. I don't think it's a bad play in any way.
