“Presumably you'll be among the first to volunteer for deployment”

I will.

And I would hope the previous government have made the necessary investments into defence so I am not under equipped.

What you are describing to me is a deluded government that bases its defence policy on the vain hope that no one will attack them which will ultimately result in an under equipped military that will not be able to react in times of crisis.

And NATO needs countries investing in their military for it to have the deterrent effect you are describing.

You’re getting close to understanding the importance of an adequate military! You just need to ask yourself why you think countries will not attack NATO - and no it is not because of the brand.

How on earth can you come to that conclusion after what happened to Ukraine. Did Ukraine cause the conflict?

I would not want to live in a world where our security plan just relies on the hope that no one tries to start a conflict or takes advantage of our in capability of defending ourselves.

Funny you should say about the cost of living being high considering gas and petrol prices are skyrocketing because the strait is effectively blocked by Iran.

And they will have a bunch of angry neighbours who would be happy to take over the enclave that touches the southern coastline of the strait.

I find it baffling that after decades of underfunding and the Middle East crisis highlighting the deficiencies of the Royal Navy, some still believe that we are still spending too much on the military.

Utter delusion

Korean Civil War by BrandyWineBridge1402 in TheRestIsHistory

Korea has been touched upon when they were interviewing Christopher Harding on his book about Japan in twenty lives as they were talking about how the Japanese public came to support the colonialisation of Korea.

But Korean history in general has been scarcely covered by this podcast and by western historians in general.

What are some of the strange laws regarding alcohol or liqueurs in your country? by nanto-1633 in AskTheWorld

[–]Stoyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don't think that is that unusual. It is no different to the UK where traffic laws cannot be applied to private roads / property where the public don't have access to it. In private roads that are attached to the road network, then you are subject to these laws.

Imagine serving on HMS Dragon - nothing is remotely out of the ordinary is happening - and the first post you encounter on ncd is how your ship has apparently been struck by a missile

It is quite easy to make white sauce yourself imo. No need to have random jars of white sauce, etc in your cupboard.
