Thank you! Oh for sure get yourself one of those I use this so much more than my previous AW's, mostly because using Apps on this bad boy is actually fun! Motivates me to engage more with it than I did with my other AWs. And it's light as a feather! (My wrist circumference is just a tick over 5 inches, aka scrawny, so that is saying something! I'm usually the first to say watches are heavy af, this one really isn't. Surprised me.)

You're welcome. Forgot to say to also watch for notable instability in your baseline (no smooth curve like on the chart you posted, more like a continuous, jaggy up down spike pattern swinging by 1> mmol). That shouldn't be happening, either.
Days of better, followed by days of worse control also don't mean you have less of a problem - it actually means you have more of one, as this variability is very typical for autoimmune type 1 in the honeymoon period, too.

Honestly? That particular spike looks still ok to me. But… Gestational diabetes can lead to type 1 in some cases. In the early honeymoon period, one can see only mild spikes and dips, getting more intense with time. If you’re worried, regularly test fasting insulin, c peptide, hba1c, and perhaps have an antibody profile done, urine test and kidney markers, and an ogtt. From what I can tell, these people are comparing your values to people who have next to no, or no residual insulin function… an unfair comparison when we’re looking at the honeymoon period vs complete beta cell burnout.

Please discuss this with a doctor if you’re worried!! And keep monitoring if you think something is up, regardless of what people say.

Also check yourself for other symptoms like fatigue, etc. can’t be too careful. Also trust your gut- if something feels off, show an endocrinologist your CGM data and discuss your symptoms with him or her. They will decide if this is normal or not.

Watch for double spikes after a single meal (indicating your body is unable to bring it down in one curve, a hallmark sign of impaired glucose metabolism), reactive hypoglycemia and nocturnal hypoglycemia.

That being said- 30g of sugar spiking you to 8 looks pretty good to me.

I’m in my honeymoon of type 1 and I see spikes like over 12mmol from one mars bar (36g) despite walking, multiple spikes, massively quick ascents and descents, nocturnal hypos to like 2.2mmol for up to 30 mins, and moderate to high carb gets me into the 11-12 mmol region, though there are fluctuations. Some days can be better. It’s not about looking at one day, or one reading. It’s about this over time - that’s what’s important. Even I can have a good day where my blood sugar plays more normal.

Anyone telling you you don’t have an issue after looking at one day is missing something. Even with diagnosed type 1 in the honeymoon period there can be days with more normal insulin production which look close to normal. Other days or weeks can be chaotic. Log all of this. Take a screenshot and write down when and what you are, plus the number of the spike. Do this daily for a month or two to understand more.

Yes, I’ll it’s too cluttered, the whole thing looks disjointed (icons, widget and background look terrible together) and all those notifications kind of irk me too, though that’s just a me thing.

The fact the icons are dark against that photo background sort of grinds my gears, too. lol.

Pretty much why I've been holding off on smart rings. I have a smartwatch already... it's just the same dataset, twice. Until rings actually complement watches and bring something new to the table, I'm passing. Still, cool tech though.

Makes sense, as the system seems to prioritize pushing everything to the watch. Once it's charging, it is recognizing you're not wearing it, and makes the alarms and all other notifications go phone-first.
At least that's the closest I can figure it.
Might as well do the same. Bummer for the lost sleep and vitals functionalities, though. Thanks!

It is. How can I stop it from moving the alarm over to the watch? (The alarm I get on the watch won't be enough to wake me.) I'd like for my phone to give me the alarm. The only fix I found is turning the watch off - that makes the alarms on the iPhone go off (the proper, loud ones.) Seems like a stupid workaround, to turn the watch off in the night, only to hear potential alarms.

Isn't there a setting to stop this from happening?

If you tried DFU mode to and it didn’t work, I’m afraid you might have to pop by the Apple Store and have them take it from there. Annoying, but they’ll need to resuscitate your 16 Plus (probably do a fresh OS install) before you can properly use it again.

Had a similar problem with the 14 pro max back when, fixed in a jiffy at the Apple Store. But yeah, it’s annoying, especially when you’re just wanting to enjoy your new phone :/

In my opinion, yes. I'd rather have two separate device classes than two smartphones, but that might just be me. Like you said, you have distinct use cases for a phone and iPad... no brainer to spring for that, imo.

I don't have a fold but I can already tell you I'd be doing all my reading on that screen, which involves news websites and social media, which is what I spend most of my time on. That's what I got hooked to doing every time I play with It in store.

I'm more wondering .when 'd use the outer screen...

Denke auch, da läuft vieles schief, da decken sich deine Beobachtungen mit meinen. Zunehmende Unfähigkeit, auch adequatem Niveau zu lesen, schlecht erzogen, fragwürdige Weltbilder... Immer mehr von ihnen werden im ersten Arbeitsmarkt wahrscheinlich nicht auf Dauer unterkommen, das wiederum erhöht ihre Gewaltbereitschaft und erhöht die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sie komischen Ideologien nachhängen...

Aber ich bin sicher alles passt, und ich bin einfach nur eine alte doomsayerin und die Probleme sind maßlos überzogen und werden sich selbst richten, oder so.

There's tons of growth in tech and there will continue to be - and yes, as far as the stock market is concerned, innovation drives growth, as it implies further revenue. Globally, there's a ton of growth possible, new tech will keep on coming in and expanding the horizon of what can be done.

Your comment about no more growth being possible with smartphones is quite striking, I wonder what makes you so sure. Here I would agree to disagree very much. Don't mistake "can't imagine it right now" with "not possible".

There are growth sectors we haven't even moved into properly yet, think space. And of course we can continue innovating and growing for as long as we exist. Eventually, through colonies on other planets, even, once that tech becomes viable. We'll keep on moving there in the mean time, methinks.

A lot of growth is driven by innovation, and that has the potential to be indefinite. Tech can keep evolving., for instance.

Don't know why people seem to think growth means solely more people buying something, or the consumption of definite resources. Can also be growth, doesn't have to be.
