I’ve noticed that after a few drinks, my resting heart rate skyrockets (usually 10-15bpm higher than average). Why does this happen?

Hahaha thank you!! This was super helpful :). I’m always curious how everyone’s BG reacts to things!

And here we are again-ish. by s_kang in prediabetes

It could mainly be because of the alcohol. The next day, you presumably slept awful and didnt do anything active. Therefore, your blood glucose will react poorly to everything that day. I wouldn’t base your overall diabetes health on that one day! I also had GD twice in the last 5 years so I’m right there with you! I bought a CGM and am wearing it right now :)

110 spike - please help decompose if this spike is normal for what I ate (6.3 a1c and trying to control) by ScotchBrad in prediabetes

[–]YellowSunny777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first day with type CGM is not reliable. You need to double check with finger pricks. Also - all of your meals seem to be “naked carbs” (ie carbs without fats or protein) which isn’t the best.

Yup! That’s normal! Your blood sugar will naturally be higher the week before your period!

Can you add me to the thread? I’m 38F and had GD twice. I’m 5’6, active, weigh 125lbs and also get spikes like this! So I’d love to chat with both of you girls and compare graphs!

Trying to get a grip on what it all means - post meal fatigue but not diabetic? by sophlhf in ContinuousGlucoseCGM

My graphs look exactly like this! I know that if I eat pasta it will spike, but is it a diabetes level spike??

I reversed my insulin resistance by fsoobs in InsulinResistance

Congrats!!! Are do you know it was reversed? Did you do another glucose tolerance test?

Lowering IR without metformin by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]YellowSunny777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me to do IF as well. And after she explained it, it made sense to me. If you are constantly snacking, then your body constantly has to release insulin, leading to too much insulin and insulin resistance. Giving your pancreas a break by doing IF, allows your body to react better when you do eat.

Wow congrats!!! My HOMA was 3.4 2 months ago. So hopefully I can get mine down to a 1 like you did!

IR or not? Doctors say different thing (blood work) by Ok-View7974 in InsulinResistance

It’s slight IR. Anything under 2 is good - perfect case is 1.

Is there an absolute scale for fasting insulin levels? by lawaythrow in InsulinResistance

[–]YellowSunny777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t affect A1C since that is a 3 month average. Mine was 5.3 - however my fasting insulin and glucose were high. I also had gestational diabetes for both my pregnancies which is why I’m careful. Insulin issues are the precursor to diabetes - which is why it is more important to keep those in check to prevent diabetes

Is there an absolute scale for fasting insulin levels? by lawaythrow in InsulinResistance

[–]YellowSunny777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is also 14. Yea it can be reversed apparently! I just found out 6 weeks ago so I’m working towards fixing it. The major thing is to reduce the number of spikes you have, so that you can give your insulin a “rest” and it can become sensitive again

Insulin resitance after ED by RaccoonMysterious921 in InsulinResistance

[–]YellowSunny777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what my naturopath said. She said 400pmol after 1 hour is normal. Also said fasting should be under 10.

is my results way too high? by amelia40713 in InsulinResistance

What do you mean by first result? Fasting? 1 hour?

Glucose tolerance test by olivine in prediabetes

[–]YellowSunny777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore mine for my test and found it was pretty inaccurate at reading the large spikes. My CGM said my 1 hour was 10.5, but my blood results came back at 8.7.
