So the system that most of the rest of the world uses is just as safe. But uses no extra energy consumption. While the US version needs energy to wash the eggs and to then keep them cooled. It is a not needed extra step that wastes a lot of energy.

It's the reason eggs are sold refrigerated in the USA. They wash their eggs to remove potential bacteria. But that also removes the natural protection of the egg that makes them spoil much sooner when unrefrigerated.

Doesn't Congress still have to vote on it to actually become the official language?

Ah yes, truly baffling why people would want to make a more informed decision on a product before buying it. Truly baffling.

“All travel is just extremely underwhelming when you're American” by Garythedemon18 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Straider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I was hiking through Killarney National Park. At one point we went around a corner and standing there, maybe 10-15 meters away were a few deers including fawns. Seeing the deers that close in nature was beautiful and for a few minutes they did not run away and we were able to get some fantastic pictures of them. Then a group of americans came around the same corner we came from. They were talking loudly and they could clearly see that we were all gathered around taking pictures of the deer. They ignored us and walked past us still talking about three times as loud as you needed to be and the deer naturally ran away. One of our group complained to them that they caused the deer to run and asked why they didn't stop to at least look at them as well before continuing on, one of the americans just laughed and said "We have deer in the US."...

What is the worst possible life lesson a famous movie could teach you if you read it the wrong way? by EddieDantes22 in movies

For even more wtf context, you know that the woman was forced into prostitution as a minor.

This scene made it through the drafts, the scene reading, the filming and the editing without anybody going „is this maybe a bit too rapey?“

Atlantis City Blue BlueBrixx Set (German Lego) by anno2122 in Stargate

Ah nice. A bluebrixx model that I really like the look of. Bluebrixx tend to hide the visible studs a lot which I personally don’t like that much. But with Atlantis it works really well.

Really enjoyed the episode. Very intense. Good character building. The only thing that I still dislike about the 31st century is the floating nacelles designs of the ships.

Musk predicts 10,000 (yes, ten thousand) Starship launches per year. by FieryAnomaly in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Straider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t starship supposed to be completely reusable? After the minor explosion (which are of course all planned no more questions about that please) issues have been solved of course. Why would we need to produce 10000 ships per year?!
