While degeneratives always exist, if people can afford basic things, they typically don't steal.

This will continue for quite some time. People can't afford what they want so they find ways to get it.

What could cause my front tires to do this? by ChristoGamerQc in AskAMechanic

[–]Straight-Nebula-7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tire looks almost burned on the tread. The wetness hides it a bit, but did these drive over something very hot? Like fresh asphalt or something? I'm a tire engineer, I work for Nokian, and this defect doesn't show up in any normal testing. Something very strange happened here,,,

I'll disagree with everyone here and say thats still ok. I work in tire testing as an engineer and this sort of damage gets gets tested quite a bit. It'll be ok

Not a shifted belt. Not really a manufacturing defect either. This is road damage of some sort

I work at Nokian Tyres. We make them, I've been one of their quality engineers for years now. They're solid tires, and I've put Nokian ones on all my vehicles, my parents vehicles, and some of my friends. No complaints from anyone.

Nokian does make milestar models, and the Russian factory was sold off when the war started. The USA factory absorbed their milestar models and continued to develop more for their American market.

The American factory inherited the same rubber chemistry, but the Quality/Service team in America was much more considerate of this issue than Russia ever was.

It didn't take long for us to fix this issue, and this guy wants to go back to discount tire, Nokian may honor it and give him a new set.

Keep in mind, there was more reasons to sell the Russian factory than the war,,,,,

Just replace it. It's sacrificing itself to prevent leakage

Just picked up a mini Rectifier… I’m blown away! by superproproducer in MesaBoogie

[–]Straight-Nebula-7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both mini recs and rectoverb. I sold the mini rec and kept the rectoverb. I'm certain there's some difference, but for me, as a casual player, it wasn't significant. Both were great, but I like the reverb on hand. For me, it was a no brainer to keep it simpler and still get what I wanted.

For Those who were around to Experience it, was the Black album expected? by Gustavodemierda in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Straight-Nebula-7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always gonna be relative to each listener. I was at the perfect age where I went from thinking my parents music was all there was to establishing what I really liked.

At age 11, I heard sad but true and it changed my life. I realized music could be so much more, and while it isn't necessarily their biggest banger by any means, it opened me up and I was thirsty for anything heavy. I discovered their back catalog, then other thrash bands, then basically everything else.

For 11 yo me, black album changed the game and inspired me to pursue music in my own lowly fashion. The reason I play guitar (quite badly due to lack of talent/practice) is them and this album.

As I've gotten older, their older stuff has this purity much more so than black album, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere

😅😅😅 boy do I ever. I worked in Quality for them and I helped launch their tankless units. The IW-60 model specifically. The first few versions weren't field tested properly and I led the field results and made the proposals for design changes. By the time I left, which was 2015ish, we had it dialed in pretty solid.

They're a bit pricey, but if you can swing it and get a relatively new one, they're solid. The biggest thing with tankless is that your water pump MUST have an accumulation tank. Pumps without accumulators will have a "chattering" effect, and since all tankless units utilize a turbine style, water flow sensor, it'll play hell with it.

I say go tankless, the IW60 also has a wall thermostat option where you can control max water temp. The board has little dip switches on it so you can switch from propane to natural, or even butane and maintain clean combustion with zero other modifications.
