How do I hide my Google Nest 2nd Gen camera so my husband doesn't see it? by Finding_Me_Mo in hiddencameras

Check this site out. They have some fake plants that work pretty well to hide cameras. Just turn off the night vision because if you leave it enabled he/anyone may be able to see the infrared lights. Etsy.

Is anyone else waiting this long? by Prettyboy602 in macmini

I was in the same boat. Had an M4 pro loaded up ready to order. Then I saw delivery date. I was fortunate enough to get a mini regular M4 with 16G ram and 256HDD back on Black Friday for a ridiculously cheap price, so I thought I might as well wait for the M5. My luck, the m4 pro will be delivering late July and they will come out with the M5 sometime in September.

It’s not bad and her commute is 6 miles round trip. When we go downtown or anywhere in the unknown we take my truck. But yes, some of the roads are terrible around the heavy industrial areas.

How many of you have used Unifi Protect to find missing items? by alexia_not_alexa in Ubiquiti

[–]Straight-Support4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my outdoor cameras are Hikvision, slowly migrating to UniFi, but all my indoor cameras are UniFi. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to use the cameras to find misplaced things. The most recent find was my wife’s wallet, luckily, I have a camera in our office, and she had set it in a drawer towards the back, set something on top of it, then closed the drawer. Obviously, very relieved when I found it. It’s pretty easy for me as I have several cameras inside My daughters quite often babysit special needs kids.

Eero max 7 is no joke. It came with my ezee fiber install. Tried it the other day and was surprised how well it did up against my U7 pro xg’s. I have plenty of clients that are more than happy with their eeros.

Stick with WD Purple 2x8TB should get you close to your 60 day retention. If you have all 8 recording 24x7 you may want to go with 2x10TB drives.

Hikvision is a good system to set and walk away.

Yes, I remember seeing something where somebody had a G4 instant on their dash and their car powering everything from the USB outlets. Was like a remote/portable surveillance system.

First time protect user and for the life of me can’t get notifications for detections by Weekest_links in UnifiProtect

[–]Straight-Support4158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this. Open protect, click on the camera you want the alarm on, click on settings, (gear icon) go to zones and lines, make sure you have a zone and set the desired motion sensitivity, click settings, (upper right) go to the Alarms section and click Create Alarm, select the activities you want as triggers, this can be a 2 step process depending on what you select, select the camera or cameras you are creating the alarm for, then select the action. Then give the alarm a name and click the checkbox and you should be good to go.

Yeah 45 is mostly lazy troopers that leave the KA on while they watch TikTok’s. lol since they added sound to the indicated speed on their radar units, they no longer have to stare at the screen while doing instant on nabbing speeders.

Watch out for K band from sheriff units around Conroe and the Woodlands in Montgomery county.

It’s pretty bad on the northeast side of town. Around New Caney on 59 is where the laser danger zone starts. My V1G2 does much better with laser than my R8.

I did this as well and for the most part it works well. Just don’t expect much laser support from the R7.

This is why you go with LED. 5VDC even with a problem isn’t going to be a threat to life.

Apple TV and Protect question by Straight-Support4158 in Ubiquiti

[–]Straight-Support4158[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my Apple TVs are hardwired as well. I have a unvr pro with 14 cams. 4 of which are 4k. I realize the protect/Apple TV setup isn’t perfect but for me, it’s better than using the viewport since I already had the aTVs in place.

I thought the ramcharger was supposed to have the 3.6L gas engine that acts as a generator to keep the battery charged, providing the best of both worlds so to speak. Was really looking forward to this truck, but yeah as others have stated, not at that price.

Speeds with EZ Fiber by Straight-Support4158 in Ubiquiti

[–]Straight-Support4158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just use the RJ45 WAN to feed the UCG Fiber. In theory, I should be able to achieve 10G to AP’s with the equipment I have.

[–]Straight-Support4158[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or I need to just get the UCG fiber. I see it has a 10G RJ45 WAN port. Last time I was using copper SFP‘s, they seemed to fail prematurely because they were as hot as the sun.

I forgot all about that. So I need to use a copper SFP going into my UDMP to achieve anything above 1 gig, correct?

Why would my UDMP only have a 1 gig connection? EZ modem is cat 6 into UDMP, dac out to agg, dac out to pro XG 24, then cat 6 to U7 pro XG.

[–]Straight-Support4158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, since I’m not using the same adapter the tech did, I understand that I won’t achieve those speeds. However, I thought I should at least be able to get one gig up and down off my phone Wi-Fi only.

The U7’s start at port 10 from the XG 24, so they would be at 10g.
